2014 Fall Home Tour: Part One
Today’s the day! I’m sharing part one of our fall home tour! (You can see part two here.) 😀
The lovely Kelly from Eclectically Vintage asked me to participate, along with 14 other bloggers, as part of her Eclectically Fall home tour series!
To start the tour, be sure to visit Kelly and her stunning home! She kicked off the tour with a bang! Then, continue to follow the links to see all of the the other ladies and their beautiful homes! There’s no lack of inspiration, I promise! 😀
And if you’re stopping by from Cassie at Primitive & Proper, Welcome! Isn’t her home gorgeous!?
This year, I’ve decorated our home with a lot of outdoor/ natural items and I’m completely loving how they’ve warmed up the house! I also added in some lovely items from World Market!
I’ve already been busy baking away. One of my very favorite things about fall, is the baking. The house smells amazing and I want to curl up and enjoy every second of it!
And speaking of baking, I had to make some of my homemade banana nut bread… it only seemed fitting…
And those striped napkins are one of my new very favorites! 😀
Fall is also the perfect time to sit back and enjoy a cup of hot apple cider! In fact, I love it so much, I decided to keep the recipe handy…
Our huge DIY chalkboard is easily one of my other favorite things in the kitchen…
I also switched things up and added our old breakfast nook shelf to the kitchen…
I added some hooks beneath the shelf for a place to hang my aprons, but the shelf is a perfect place to display seasonal/ kitchen goodies…
I love to add wheat around the house this time of year as well. I grabbed this from my dad’s field and I can’t help but love how it looks in this utensil crock…

And I can’t forget the apples… They’re also one of my favorite items to decorate with, especially during fall, and this marble and wood pedestal looks fabulous with them…

Here’s a few more views from around the house…
Now, next on the tour is Karah from The Space Between. She has a lovely home!

I love your cotton boll wreath! Where can I find one just like it?
I bought my cotton wreath at Antique Farmhouse! I hope that helps! 😀
Love your gorgeous fall home! I’m obsessed with chalkboards and was wondering how you wrote the recipe on the chalkboard in your kitchen? Did you use a certain technique and what kind of chalk/pen? Thanks!
Oh how I’ve missed YOU! Love this tour, Shayna! The Apple Wreath is my absolute favorite thing… did you make this? Blessings & <3 M
Where did you get the dining room chandelier? I love it.
Hi there! I bought it at Home Depot. You can read more about it here: https://www.thewoodgraincottage.com/2014/08/22/new-dining-room-light/ 😀
I am in love with your cabinets . Do You know where they came from?
Your home is gorgeous! I am a sucker for vintage napkins and flour sacks too! Loved everything, I will be back!
Love your kitchen cabinets! Can you tell me about them? Thanks
Thank you so much, Angie! Our cabinets are made by Custom Cabinets. We bought them from a local dealer. The color is called Carrington and our cabinets are made of Alder wood.
I hope that helps! ?

Hello!
I love your decor! I stumbled across your blog on Pinterest and I would love to know what stain color you used on your shelves in the dining room. My house is very similar with the touches of white, carrington stain color and outdoorsy touches here and there. I currently have shelves hanging in my kitchen that I would love to re-finish to be lighter and more rustic like the wall of shelves you have in your room. Any information would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Thank you so much, Amy! We love our dining room shelves! You can read more about how we made them, and the color we used, here: https://www.thewoodgraincottage.com/2014/08/08/diy-dining-room-open-shelving/
I hope that helps! 🙂
Your home is truly beautiful! I love your ideas. Could you please tell me how you hung your wreath from your mantle hood? The contrast between the white wreath and the color of your cabinets looks really pretty. Thanks for any information.
Thank you so much, Judith! I hung the wreath from some grapevine wire I picked up at the craft store. I simply looped it around the wreath, pulled it tight, then draped it over our cabinet doors. Because the wire is heavy, it works like a charm! 🙂
I love your blog and I’m inspired by your decorating. I just bought a house and I’m trying to decided on a color to paint the kitchen. What color paint did you use?
Thanks
Theresa
Thank you so much, Theresa! Our kitchen is painted in Edgcomb Gray by Benjamin Moore, and the surrounding rooms are in White Dove By Benjamin Moore (Breakfast Nook), and Super White by Benjamin Moore (Living Room, Entry). All are mixed in eggshell. I hope that helps! 🙂
i love the dark stained cabinets in your kitchen. Would you share the stain brand/color that you used?
Thank you
THANK YOU so much, Jeanine! Our cabinets are made by Custom Cabinets. We bought them from a local dealer. The color is called Carrington and our cabinets are made of Alder wood. The color isn’t quite black, but it is really dark.
I hope that helps! ?

Love love love your home. Where did you find the shelf that is above the aprons and the books for the aprons? Great way to display!
Thank you! I’ve actually had the shelf for a long time… it was originally from Home Interiors. We gave a it a little face lift to modernize it. I’m sorry that’s not more helpful!
Can you tell me what The flooring is? I love the color. Thanks!
Our hardwood flooring is a 3″ Hickory in a walnut finish. We bought them from Home Depot on sale! I couldn’t find a link to them exactly, but these from Lumber Liquidators are pretty close from what I can tell: http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/c/Walnut-Hickory-Casa-de-Colour-PRWH2/10006694
I hope that helps! 🙂
