New Dining Room Light
Well, I’m back to share our new dining room light! We were definitely ready to swap out our old light and hang up the new one I found on clearance at Home Depot. I’d been admiring it for a really long time, kind of like our new living room light, although this one was much cheaper! 😀
When we installed our new dining room shelves, I knew there was no way our old light fixture was going to look right with them. Anthony never liked the light from the start, so he was more than happy to do a light switcheroo. And I must admit, this one looks much better and fits the house, and our whole look, perfectly.
Here’s our old light fixture…
Basically night and day difference. The new light is much bigger, so it fits the room better and plays as an anchor.
I was completely lucky to find it sitting on the clearance end cap. Our local Home Depot has a tendency to put some of my favorite lights on clearance (just like our breakfast nook light), so I make sure to check it every time I’m in the store, which is admittedly, quite often. 😀
I love the detail and its open appearance. I really didn’t want anything too visually heavy, or solid.
And I wanted to make sure you could still see the shelving through it…
I also love, love, my new view from the kitchen sink…
Now, I feel like our dining room is ready for fall decorating… With all the changes we’ve made, it’s one of my favorite rooms and one of the rooms I’m most excited about decorating this year.
Loads of fall decorating coming your way soon!
P.S. I traded Anthony a yummy, delicious, homemade peach crisp for him to hang the new light. Not only do we both love the new light, but the peach crisp was amazing and fabulous and I enjoyed it while sitting under our new light! 😀
That is a fab new light. The fact that it was on clearance makes it even more so 🙂 Perfect!!
Now I want peach crisp!
Happy Friday.
Hugs, Gee
I LOVE the new light, Shayna! So pretty with the shelves!
Beautiful! You are so right, perfect for the room!
Where did you get the dining room curtains? Were they pre-made or are they custom? If custom, what’s the fabric? I’ve been looking for a blue/white/cream pattern curtain for our living room. Thanks!
Dining room looks great!
Hi Tricia! Thank you so much! 😀
For the curtains, I made them a few years back from some fabric I found at our local craft/ fabric store. I wish I knew the name/ pattern, but I don’t. I’m so sorry!
What a difference, the other was a bit wimpy….this anchors the space…..good job on sale too !
Wow Shauna, Love all the changes you have made . The light is just perfect. You have great style !
The new light is gorgeous and yes, so much better than the old one.
Wow! Love the new light! It makes such a difference!
Very attractive light. A+
What a score, love this light fixture and your living room fixture. Love the blog and your style. If you don’t mind me asking, what type of rug is under the dining table? Looking forward to your fall decorating posts.
THANK YOU so much, Kris! I found my rug at Overstock! It’s made from jute. Love it! 😀
Love the new light and love the end chairs too! Great new view for you!!! I am ready to decorate for Fall too!!!!
So gorgeous Shayna! I LOVE the new light!
I love it! So much better for that space…beautiful!
I love the new light, love the new shelves, in fact I love everything about your dining room. Where did you get your glad/jar holder/dryer that’s hanging on your corner wall? I’ve been looking for one for awhile now but they tend to be quite pricey. Your site is fast becoming my favorite blog. Thank you.
THANK YOU so much for the lovely comment! 😀 I bought the bottle drying rack from Decor Steals! I love it! 😀
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Seriously didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for this, but could only find it in one other online store, which was twice as much! Just bought one for my old soda bottle collection!
It looks perfect, Shayna! I should know, I have the same light in our kitchen. How funny! I still love mine…nice job getting it on sale. I think I pd. $159. Anyhow…you got swag girl! Nice getting to know you from Fox Hollow!
It makes a great difference! I love the whole way the room looks, Shayna! 🙂
How tall are your celings? I love this light but have 8′ celings and wonder if this light is too big for my space…
Hi there! 😀 Our ceilings are 9′ tall! I don’t think it’d be too big!
Hope that helps!
do you know the brand of the light it is great!
Beautiful! Looks perfect! I’m guessing Home Depot no longer carries this style, so I would also like to know the brand or name of the light if you happen to know. Thank you! Hoping to find it for my dining room…perfection!
Thank you! I think Home Depot does carry this light online. It’s made by Hampton Bay. I hope that helps! 🙂
Thank you for answering (& so quickly), Shayna! I have a new blog to follow! 😉
Love the light!!! Found it online for anyone needing one, like myself 🙂

Joss & Main! Congrats! I was wondering if you could tell me about the dining room table and chairs. Is the table two tone? And where did you find those fantastic end chairs? The look is totally my style! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Thank you so very much! I bought our table at American Furniture Warehouse. It is two toned, the top is a bit lighter. The end chairs are from TJMaxx. I hope that helps! 🙂
Shayna,
I just bought the same light for our dining room (on clearance too!) and when I took it out of the box it was more of a gray color. Did you paint yours black or does it just look darker in pictures? And how does it look in person (to you)?
Thanks!
Hi Kristen! Yes, the light is a dark gray color. We were both a little bit surprised when we opened the box too, but we hung it anyways. I honestly think it’s beautiful, and just the right touch for our room. If you wanted to, you could spray paint it, which is what I thought about doing when I first opened the box. Now that we have it hung, I think it’s gorgeous! I hope that helps! 🙂
