This DIY Towel Hook Rack is the perfect addition to our master bathroom and a great way to store towels! We've been busy working in our master bathroom and I was hoping to be able to share the full reveal with you at the end of the month, but since I haven't had the easiest time shopping for all those pretty finishing touches, things have been pushed back for a while. One thing we were able to create, was our DIY Towel Hook Rack. This was such a fun project to put together and I love the finished product. Believe it or not, but the wood is actually a left over stair tread from when we did our DIY staircase makeover. I loved the stair treads so much, that I wasn't willing to ...

How To Install Wall Moulding
We've been doing some work in our master bathroom and it's coming along beautifully. When coming up with the design plan for this bathroom, I really wanted to add some extra character, especially with the bathroom being such a small space. Wall moulding was an essential part of my plan, and we just recently installed a few walls, with one more to go. Today though, I wanted to share our method on how to install wall moulding. It's such a beautiful way to add character to any space. How To Install Wall Moulding Before we get started, if you haven't caught up with progress in our master bathroom, you can read my last update here. This bathroom has come such a long ...
An Update On Our Master Bathroom
It's time I shared an update on our master bathroom! We've made such incredible progress, and here soon, I look forward to revealing the finished space! Before that happens though, we have a few things left to finish. Let's take a look at how far we've come! The last time I talked about our master bathroom, I shared our design plan for the room... And a few pictures of the different elements we're planning on using in the bathroom... Today though, I wanted to share just how much progress we've made in our master bathroom, and what we have left to do before the room is finished. Just to refresh your memory, here's a look back at what we started with... Here's the ...
Master Bathroom Design Plan
I can't even explain how excited we are to start on our master bathroom remodel! It's been a project we've wanted to do, but held off from finishing while we prioritized other projects that needed done first. It's finally here though, and I've spent so much time working on the new floor plan for the bathroom, as well as the design plan for the space. Before I share the design plan, and the new layout, let's take a walk down memory lane and look back at where we started... The Master Bathroom Before: When we first bought the house, this room appeared to have been one of the only rooms in the house that had undergone some sort of an upgrade. Even with that said, the ...
How We Installed Our Floating Vanity
When we were looking at vanity options for the hall bathroom, I kept going back to the idea of having a floating vanity. I liked the subtle, modern vibe it would add to the bathroom with some of the more traditional items we'd be incorporating as well. I also wanted a vanity that had a thicker top, so when I found this one, I was basically sold. It was the right size, the right color, the right style, and the right price. Today, I wanted to share how we installed our floating vanity. While it should have probably been easier than it was, we finally got it installed and anchored to the wall. It's not going anywhere, that's for sure. Right out of the box, the vanity had ...
One Big Hall Bathroom Update
It's been a few minutes since I've shared anything about the hall bathroom, so today I thought it was time for one, big update. Like every other room in the house, it's functional and almost finished, but not quite done. That's something I hope to change in the next few months. Demo'ing out the space was the last post I shared, and so much has changed! This room certainly hasn't been without some drama though, and it left us wanting to pull our hair out. First, let's take a trip down memory lane. Here's what the room looked like when we bought the house... We removed everything from the bathroom, and then switched up the floor plan. That was huge on our part, and it made the ...
Demo’ing the Hall Bathroom
There's something fun about completely taking a room down to the original studs and starting over. That's certainly the story of demo'ing the hall bathroom. It was interesting to say the least, and because of everything we uncovered during demo, the design/ layout plan for the room changed. With one of the weirdest layouts in the house (actually, every bathroom in this house had the oddest layout), everything about this hall bathroom had us wanting to pull out what was previously installed. We both agreed there was no way we could possibly go to all the work, or demo everything out, to put it back in the same bad layout. Especially when we discovered yet another water leak ...
The Hall Bathroom Design Plan
There are several rooms in the Willow House that are getting completely gutted down to the studs, with walls moved and rearranged for better functionality. The hall bathroom is one of them, so today I'm sharing our design plan. Since we're planning on finishing this bathroom first, and will be using that primarily until we get around to the master bathroom, we're going full steam ahead on getting it put back together in time to move-in. First, let me refresh your memory on what this bathroom originally looked like... Not only was this bathroom disgusting, but incredibly outdated with the most awkward layout. We couldn't wait to start demolishing everything in the ...
Decorating Shelves Above The Toilet
If you've been following this blog for a while, you may remember last year when we installed shelves above our toilet in the master bathroom. Since installing them, I've never really "decorated" them. Sure, I added a basket or two, but that was about it. But even with the shelves not decorated, this little area in our bathroom is one of my favorite views. The dark wall behind the shelves, the crisp white planking and the rough texture of the wood all combines to create the perfect backdrop for accessories. I know decorating shelves above the toilet can be a little bit tricky, but I'm absolutely loving how our little area came together. I shopped the house and was able to use things ...
Master Bathroom Shelf Makeover
See how easy it was to complete this master bathroom shelf makeover. I'm sharing my step by step tutorial and the results are beautiful! Sometimes projects turn out a little less awesome than I expect (gasp!, right?), and then there are projects that entirely exceed my expectations. Projects that exceed my expectations automatically hold a spot in my heart. I'm a very visual person, and can generally see past anything to envision something entirely different. That's where today's master bathroom shelf makeover comes into play. When I was looking to share a project for this month's paint makeover post, I walked into the thrift store in search for something "blog-worthy". True ...
New Light In The Master Bathroom
Today it's all about our new light in the master bathroom. Little by little, we've made progress fixing it up. The bathroom that sat unfinished for months, has slowly started to take shape... and it's exciting. You may remember when I shared a sneak peek of this light in our new entry light post... We were lucky enough to find that little gem of a light at an antique mall in Littleton (Colorado) while visiting family. I loved the shape, the ribbed design, and the simple farmhouse vibe it had. After debating on several different places to hang it in the house, I finally decided on our master bathroom. The size is perfect for this little room, and while it's a tiny bit hard to ...
Shelves In The Master Bathroom
I am so excited to share our latest project, shelves in the master bathroom! If you read the recap of our trip to the Vintage Whites Market (or attended the event! :) ), you might have noticed the shelves we were selling. I absolutely adored them (and they were really popular!), so I wanted to incorporate them into our house as well. They look amazing! Back when I envisioned our bathroom, I could see they would look wonderful against the black wall, and once we had it completed, it actually blew away my vision! They look so good together! Today, I wanted to share how we installed them... For the shelves, we used old wood from my parents farm. They have piles of it, and it's been ...
Planking In The Master Bathroom
I'm back today with more progress in our master bathroom. We've been able to get several things completed, and it feels amazing! This room sat unfinished for months upon months, so seeing progress is wonderful. One of my very favorite elements, is planking. That comes as no surprise to most of you, but if you're new here, we love us some planking. We started by planking the wall in our breakfast nook several years ago, and have slowly continued adding more throughout several rooms in our home. It feels very cohesive now, which was my goal when we started adding the plank walls. I didn't want just one plank wall in the house, but instead an even "flow" of them throughout the ...
New Paint In The Master Bathroom
Ah! It's been forever since I last shared our master bathroom. Right after we found out our shower had been leaking into the living room (they share a wall), we basically demoed the bathroom, leaving the cabinets and bathtub. We ripped out the existing tile and installed new floor tile, and shower tile. It's been one of the best decisions... not only does the shower not leak anymore, but the bathroom looks waaay better than it did with the original tile. The last time I shared about the master bathroom, the tile guys had just left. Here's what it's looked like for the past 5-6 months... Mind you, I did clean, but that was basically it. The bathroom has had paint swatches on ...
New Master Bathroom Tile
Our master bathroom renovation is moving right along! The tile guys finished installing the tile on Monday, then finished with the grout and caulking Tuesday! I can't even tell you how excited I am. Not only for the fact that we basically have a new bathroom, but for the simple fact that we get our house back. Renovations are tough. Dust and dirt lands on every available surface, items are out of place, and the normal rhythm of "home" is gone. But it's all worth it for the cause. I mentioned in my previous post that the demo was done, and we were ready to start over with new tile. I snapped a few progress pictures, but for the most part I tried to stay out of their way as they were ...
Master Bathroom Demo
Our master bathroom tile is officially gone! I'm sharing the progress update from the demolition. And yikes, our house is a total disaster! :-D Last time I updated you on our master bathroom we were in the process of meeting with our contractor and the tile guy to begin the first phase of ripping out our existing bathroom tile. Since it leaked like a sieve, and had already done plenty of damage, Anthony and I decided to start over. Our leaky shower was on its way out! Monday the crew came to start demoing the bathroom. If you've ever done any remodeling, you know how much of a mess it makes. It basically affects the entire house, not just that room. We have a thick coat of dust ...
Master Bathroom Tile Drama
I had to think long and hard before naming this post. Nothing seemed to fit quite right, except for the word "drama". Problem is, I really, really, really dislike drama of any nature. I don't want any part of it. Unfortunately, our master bathroom has decided otherwise, and we've been dealing with its tile issues from the first day we moved in. I've never really shared pictures, or details, of our master bathroom, so bear with me as I explain our experience and frustrations. In order for you to understand the full story, I'll start at the beginning. Since we moved in in 2012, we've had issue, after issue with our master bathroom shower and floor tile. A month or so after we moved in, ...
How to Make A Ladder
The powder bathroom is definitely coming along. And since we installed all those lovely white planks on the walls, I've been really excited about bringing in wood tones for contrast. I also wanted something that would give me room to display a few things, but still be out of the way since the room is a bit small. A ladder was the perfect solution. It was easy to make too! Here's how... First, I bought the cheap 1" x 2" pine boards from Home Depot. They have a rougher finish, which is what I was looking for. I didn't want the ladder to look brand new. I love the knots and holes in the wood. Then, we cut it down to size. We made it 6 foot tall and 17" wide. The steps are 11" ...
Powder Bathroom Plank Walls & A Sneak Peak
We've made a serious amount of progress in the powder bathroom. I pretty much couldn't live with the house tore up any longer, so Anthony and I spent two nights working in there until 1:00 in the morning. We might have had a bit of a motivation... seeing that his birthday was the 5th and we had family coming over to help us celebrate on Friday night. It helps to have a working bathroom. I can't wait to show you everything- it looks fabulous- but today I'm sharing the plank walls. Anthony is always so hesitant about nailing that many boards and nails into our walls, but I'm always there to cheer him on. I can guarantee they're going to be around for a long while. I am head over heels ...
Powder Bathroom Inspiration: Take 2
I've been known to switch up a plan from time to time. I'm a wanderer, a drifter of sorts. I think that I'll have the perfect plan for something, totally decide on doing it, implement a few things, then change my mind. I guess that means it wasn't turning out as I had hoped.... Our powder bathroom has been stuck in a rut for a while now... You might remember my first inspiration post that I shared here. I still love everything about those rooms, but I've found a different inspiration in them then I previously shared. Funny how that works, huh? But, the thing is... I have finally created the room in my head. From top to bottom. I can see the accessories, the colors, the wood tones ...
Powder Bathroom Art & Meaningful Items Wrap Up
Happy March 1st! Today marks the end of my "Adding Meaning to Our Home" mini series, and I'm wrapping up everything I've done to make our home extra special! But before I do that, we have one last thing that makes me happy, happy. If you follow on facebook, you might have noticed that I posted a picture a while back of my gallery wall in progress. It's still not done but I can show you a few of my favorite parts- which just happen to mean a whole lot. Right after Anthony and I got married (4 years ago this May- time flies!), my mom came to visit and brought a surprise present for our home. Love her! It was my first painting- and I absolutely love the serene little cottage ...
