Is your bedroom lacking some style? Ours too! Below I'm sharing our master bedroom budget makeover plan that includes several affordable options to create a space we love! We've been hitting our 2021 house goals hard these last couple of weeks with hopes we can knock several lingering items off of our to do list. (I'm looking at you trim & closet doors.) With most of the big, main area projects nearing completion, it's time to start really transforming several of our spaces by giving them a proper makeover. It's one thing to add new windows, paint, flooring and trim work, but it's a completely different thing to start bringing in personality and making those spaces our ...

Art In The Entryway
Looking for a quick, budget friendly way to add art to your home? Digital prints are a great way to personalize your home while staying within budget! Our entryway is still going through a transition period. There's so many things I want to do, but until we can get it done, I've been focusing on easier ways to give the space the fresh look it's been needing. Adding new art in the entryway has done just that. It's been a fun, budget friendly way to really update the space, all while being cost effective. Affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here. Adding Art To The Entryway Digital prints have long since been one of my ...
New Dining Room Table
We recently added a new dining room table to our dining room! Suddenly, things are feeling much better! Our dining room... sigh. It's a hard space to figure out. With it being small in size, and right in the middle of two major walkways, figuring out the right furniture placement has been tricky. Since we've been moving furniture around to make room for the baby and her nursery, we recently moved the office furniture to our basement where we'll be reworking everything to make things fit. The table I was using for a desk however, wasn't going to fit. I wasn't sure if it would work in the dining room, but it was a chance I was willing to take in order for us to have a more ...
TGI-Friday
Happy TGI-Friday! It's been a little while since I've shared a TGI-Friday post, but I always look forward to putting them together. They're a bit random, but they're full of so many good things, including my favorite new finds and behind the scenes things we've been working on, or upcoming projects we'll be starting. Lately, we've been focusing on all things baby. I've been putting my registry together and finalizing our design plan for her room, as well as the budget for all the pieces we'll need to be collecting to make her room come together. Like with most rooms, it's going to be a mix of high and low priced items. We'll splurge on some things and save on others, ...
Nursery Design Plan
With our sweet baby girl due the beginning of July, I've been working hard to pull together her nursery design plan and our baby registry. It's becoming really real that she'll be here soon, which is both incredibly exciting and making me a little bit nervous at the same time. We still have so much to do and prepare before she makes her arrival! Last weekend we removed everything from our office, which has been relocated to the basement, in preparation to start working on her room. I've thought long and hard about what I want her room to feel and look like. I often find myself sitting in her room, taking it all in and letting my imagination take over. This is the room we'll be ...
Master Bathroom Design Plan
I can't even explain how excited we are to start on our master bathroom remodel! It's been a project we've wanted to do, but held off from finishing while we prioritized other projects that needed done first. It's finally here though, and I've spent so much time working on the new floor plan for the bathroom, as well as the design plan for the space. Before I share the design plan, and the new layout, let's take a walk down memory lane and look back at where we started... The Master Bathroom Before: When we first bought the house, this room appeared to have been one of the only rooms in the house that had undergone some sort of an upgrade. Even with that said, the ...
Our New Entry Light
We've been making some progress around the house these past few weeks. One of the things we were finally able to get done, was installing our new entry light. When we bought the house, most of the rooms didn't have ceiling lighting. I'm not sure why that was such a big trend back in the 1980's, but when we were knee deep in remodeling the house, we had an electrician come in and add recessed lighting, as well as a few new ceiling boxes where we didn't previously have any lights. Our entry was one of those rooms. We've waited several months before buying a light fixture for the space, but since we've been making a few other changes and adding in new furniture, it was time to finally ...
Changes To Our Entry
Now that we're finished with demo and have all the big key items in place, we can finally start playing around with all the fun things in the house. One of the first rooms I wanted to tackle, was our entry. Given that it's one of the first things our guests see when they walk in the door, I wanted to make it tidy and presentable. Changes to our entry our have definitely given the house a breath of fresh air, and it's so nice having a pulled together space when we walk in the door. When we first moved in, and as we were unloading furniture, we put one of our dressers in the the entry and it stayed there until recently. I knew the dresser would never be a permanent solution, but ...
Four Reasons We Chose Carpet For Our Bedrooms
Since I recently shared the tutorial for installing our laminate flooring throughout the house, I wanted to also share the four reasons we chose carpet for our bedrooms rather than installing the laminate floors. To be honest, we thought long and hard about installing the laminate in our bedrooms as well, but in the end, carpet won out. I know there are so many people who prefer a hard surface flooring throughout their entire home, but that's just not us. Here's why. 1. Carpet Is Soft & Warm Underfoot One of the biggest deciding factors, was the fact that carpet is soft and warm underfoot. We enjoy stepping out of bed and landing on a soft, plush surface. Sure, we could ...
TGI-FRIDAY: A Home Office Update & So Much More
It's time for another TGI-Friday, and this week I'm including a home office update. Honestly, since we've been knee deep in exterior projects, we haven't made a ton of progress, but that's about to change! A little while back, I shared the design plan for the office. We've been buying several of the items, and I can't wait to start putting the room together. One of the big key factors, is going to be getting the closet shelves finished. Right now, it's basically just full of boxes making the room hard to organize. We also need to buy a small filing cabinet, because as much as we've been able to go paperless, there's still papers that need to be kept and filed. I did get the ...
On The Search For New Dinnerware
You may be surprised to know, that even with all of the table setting and entertaining ideas I've shared over the years, I've never really had an "official" dinnerware set to use for everyday meals. I've collected a lot of dishes, mainly from thrift stores and estate sales, but they've never been in a complete set, or in perfect condition. Affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here. Several years ago, I bought a really pretty set, that I've showcased in so many table decor ideas, but there's always been a few things about them that I haven't loved. Todd and I have been using them exclusively since we got married, but the little things I'd noticed about ...
How To Use Patterns In Decor
When I was coming up with the design plan for our office, I knew I wanted to incorporate some kind of pattern. I didn't want it to be too overwhelming, that's not really my style, but I do like to incorporate some sort of pattern into each and every room of our home. It keeps things interesting, and can often bring the final touch to a room. While I was searching for office items, I found so many great pieces that would definitely provide that punch of pattern. Here's the thing though, there really is a way to include them that makes sense. Let's talk about how to use patterns in decor and around your home... Affiliate links are provided below. Full ...
Office Design Plan
It's hard to believe a month ago the room for our office was stacked full of boxes. We couldn't even walk around in there. Every day I'd walk by completely overwhelmed and frustrated with not being able to find certain things we'd be looking for. As soon as I knew I'd be back to blogging again, putting the office together became a priority. So today, I'm sharing the office design plan and I'm so excited to see it come together! Affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here. Since Todd and I will both be using the office, I wanted it to be a nice balance of feminine and masculine... but we all know how much I love black paint and furniture. It wasn't really a ...
My Amazon Prime Day Picks
Who else loves Amazon Prime? In our house, we order from Amazon Prime at least weekly... some of the items we love the most we've found on Amazon, and I'm thinking we're probably not alone. I'm sharing my Amazon Prime Day picks, specifically for home decor. We have so many rooms in the house that need a few things, so I set out and searched to see what was on sale. Here's all of the items that either caught my eye, or that we're considering buying! I hope you enjoy, and maybe even find something you love for your own home! Affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here. Glass Lamp: Classic, but with a slightly modern design that would look ...
TGI-Friday & The Last 5 House Things I’ve Purchased
Friday... Isn't it one of the best days of the week?! In today's TGI-Friday post, I thought it would be fun to share the last 5 house things I've purchased... minus groceries! Even though I haven't been posting on the blog, that doesn't mean I haven't been buying the house some goodies here and there! (Can't stop, won't stop!) But first, let's take a good look at some of the big highlight things we've been up to the past few months... Have I ever told you about my love for scones? If I haven't, I'm not sure what I've been doing. I love scones! I've always been obsessed with them, and I've now, happily, passed that love onto Todd. I couldn't believe he hadn't ever had a scone before ...
TGI-Friday
Remember when I shared TGI-Friday in the past? I know it's been a little while, but I really like the idea of sharing some behind the scenes peeks, as well as new things I find and love. It's a random post, but it's real and full of good stuff! In house news, we've been spending our weekends working on the yard. If you're following my Instagram stories, you've got a good glimpse at what we've been working on. Just like the rest of the house, it has been severely neglected. The grass that was once there is long gone and we have a ridiculous amount of sticks and tree saplings everywhere. Todd brought his skid steer from work and we've been doing demo on the landscaping. We've scooped up ...
Our First Home Tour
I'm here sharing our first home tour in the Willow House! I've always loved looking back on past home tours. It's fun to see the progress that's made and all the changes that happen year after year. This tour will be one we'll really enjoy looking back on. We have so many projects in the works, and so many unfinished projects, but even through the chaos, we are loving living in this home. We love going through the house, piece by piece, making it ours and really putting our stamp on things. As we've been living in the house, we keep coming up with new ideas and plans for the future. And I'm sure it will change 100 times over, but actually living in the house always brings a ...
The Laundry Room Design Plan
If you remember the first tour I shared of The Willow House, downstairs there was a teeny, tiny bedroom with it's own walk in closet. Big enough for just about a twin sized bed, it was another room that didn't really make sense. And why the smallest room in the house was the one with a walk in closet, we'll never really understand. The one thing we did know though, from the first time walking through the house, was that we'd be turning this room into the laundry room. I guess I've really been working on the laundry room design plan since that first day, knowing things were going to change. With the existing laundry space in the garage taking up needed parking space, there was no ...
The Hall Bathroom Design Plan
There are several rooms in the Willow House that are getting completely gutted down to the studs, with walls moved and rearranged for better functionality. The hall bathroom is one of them, so today I'm sharing our design plan. Since we're planning on finishing this bathroom first, and will be using that primarily until we get around to the master bathroom, we're going full steam ahead on getting it put back together in time to move-in. First, let me refresh your memory on what this bathroom originally looked like... Not only was this bathroom disgusting, but incredibly outdated with the most awkward layout. We couldn't wait to start demolishing everything in the ...
My Favorite Digital Prints For Winter
Since we have a few months to go still, today I thought I'd share my favorite digital prints for winter. The perfect thing about purchasing digital prints, is that not only are they cheap, but you can customize the size for your space... just like I did in my dining room! It's also an easy process to frame a digital print... you can either use your own home printer, or have it professionally printed! Digital prints are perfect for adding artwork to your home, decorating for the seasons and mixing and matching with pieces you may already have to create unique displays! Whether you need a horizontal or vertical print, these are perfect! They're all instant downloads, so as soon ...
Bringing Summer Inside
One of my favorite elements of summer, is all the gorgeous blooms and green foliage. Even the weeds look amazing this time of year, so lush and vibrant. I recently took a walk around our property and was surrounded by so much beauty! Even though it was a little dark and gloomy, and the clouds were threatening rain, I couldn't help but walk back to the house to grab my scissors to snip a few of the lovely blooms I found. I'm all about bringing summer inside, and be them weeds or not, these free, light and happy blooms were too perfect not to bring in and create a pretty bouquet... The breakfast nook was the perfect place to display them... It's a bit hard to see, but they ...
