Summer Home Tour
Summer is in full swing, and I am so happy to be here sharing our summer home tour. As usual, I kept our home pretty simple as I was decorating for summer, but instead decided to focus on the outdoor elements that really inspire me… especially the stunningly beautiful Russian Olive Tree, which continues to be my favorite tree, ever.
I’m also thrilled that Nina from Nina Hendricks Design asked me to join along in sharing our home with such an elite group of bloggers, and Country Living and Birch Lane. If you’re looking for some great inspiration for decorating, we’ve got you covered.
Let’s start the tour, shall we?
This time of year, my kitchen is gearing up for the big canning season. I’m prepping for the long, busy and bountiful days ahead… canning is almost therapeutic for me, and I’m looking forward to preserving my first jams and jellies of the season…
I incorporated this lovely marble cheese board into our kitchen area… it fits beautifully.
I also swapped out the decor on our shelf, which instantly gave the kitchen a quick re-fresh…
I absolutely love my moscow mule mugs, and they provided the perfect fresh pop of color and contrast for our kitchen. I also added in the brass candle holders (garage sale find), which really completed the shelf…
On the other side of the kitchen, there’s this lovely shelving unit that provides a great place for extra storage, but also somewhere to display my current favorite items…

From the kitchen, you look directly into the breakfast nook, which is also one of my favorite rooms in the house. This big window adds so much natural light to the house. This picture is a perfect example of it…
The beautiful Russian Olive branches make such a lovely statement, the room really doesn’t need much else. You can read more about the table and chairs here, and the sign here.
Sigh…. I love that tree, and those branches.

From the living room, you look right into the dining room and entry…
You may notice a new addition to our dining room, and yes, the sign is one of my very favorite things in the room. I’ll be sharing the details a little bit later, but I am in love with it…
Another new addition to the room, is this amazing drink dispenser. I fell hard for it, and I love the modern vibe it adds with the metal stand…
And of course, those gorgeous branches again. 🙂

I love your home Shayna. It feels so cozy even in Summer. Thanks for reminding us that just simple greens can make a statement. I think I’ll do that tonight!
I love your home! I’ve searched all over your site to try to find the source for the oval mirror in your entry. Could you please share the source of your mirror?
Thank you so much, Amy! I bought the mirror at World Market. I hope that helps. 🙂
Hi Shayna……do you have the source for the Oval mirror in your entry way?….I am looking for something similar for my powder room….Thank you.
Thank you so much, Kim! I bought the mirror at World Market. I hope that helps. 🙂
LET’S ???? HOME…can’t read the middle word…luv your home style!!
I Love, Love, Love the ” Let’s Stay Home ” sign…looking forward to hearing more about how you made it. Just a question….sure it has segmental value….what is that on top shelf over the sign? If you don’t mind me asking?
Kind of crazy about your home 😉 And love how those branches move from spot to spot. We have a russian olive in our backyard and I may just have to go picking crazy now! Thanks!
Perfection!
Your home is very inviting – warm and welcoming!
You have a knack of making dark cabinets and dark furniture (something that is not as popular on blogs) look so classic and beautiful with your decor and styling! I love your simple summer touches!
Such a gorgeous summer tour, Shayna! Love all the details.
Hugs, Jamie
Great sense of style! I NEED that light fixture you have over your dining table. Where did you get it?? Thanks!
Thank you! The light is from Home Depot. You can read more about it here: https://www.thewoodgraincottage.com/2014/08/22/new-dining-room-light/.
So lovely, Shayna! Those olive branches are just beautiful. I can’t wait to follow along with your canning, I am hoping to give it a try this year! Thank you so much for being part of this tour! xx
I love your style, similar to mine. I am looking for a black chandelier similar to the one you have over your dining table; as I use black and white vintage throughout my house. I am not finding black–usually they are bronze. I also wondered if you’d share your source for lighting
Thank you so much! The light above our table is from Home Depot. You can read more about it here: https://www.thewoodgraincottage.com/2014/08/22/new-dining-room-light/. Typically I look for lighting online: Amazon, Ebay, Wayfair, etc. I also like looking at the clearance section in Home Depot and Lowes! I hope that helps! 🙂
Love, love, love your home and style!!
Will you please share your wall and trim colors?? My husband and I are building, and I’m looking for a beautiful warm white just like you have.
Thank you so much! The wall color is Halo by Benjamin Moore in satin and the trim is Super White by Benjamin Moore in Semi-Gloss. You can see more of our paint colors here: https://www.thewoodgraincottage.com/home-tour/home-sources/.
Your home is beautiful! Where did you buy your dining room table?
