Is your bedroom lacking some style? Ours too! Below I'm sharing our master bedroom budget makeover plan that includes several affordable options to create a space we love! We've been hitting our 2021 house goals hard these last couple of weeks with hopes we can knock several lingering items off of our to do list. (I'm looking at you trim & closet doors.) With most of the big, main area projects nearing completion, it's time to start really transforming several of our spaces by giving them a proper makeover. It's one thing to add new windows, paint, flooring and trim work, but it's a completely different thing to start bringing in personality and making those spaces our ...

Four Reasons We Chose Carpet For Our Bedrooms
Since I recently shared the tutorial for installing our laminate flooring throughout the house, I wanted to also share the four reasons we chose carpet for our bedrooms rather than installing the laminate floors. To be honest, we thought long and hard about installing the laminate in our bedrooms as well, but in the end, carpet won out. I know there are so many people who prefer a hard surface flooring throughout their entire home, but that's just not us. Here's why. 1. Carpet Is Soft & Warm Underfoot One of the biggest deciding factors, was the fact that carpet is soft and warm underfoot. We enjoy stepping out of bed and landing on a soft, plush surface. Sure, we could ...
Guest Bedroom Headboard Makeover
The guest bedroom is moving along, which is so nice to see since the room sat as a complete danger (aka, junk) zone for months... When I decided to give this room a much needed refresh, one of the elements I knew I wanted to keep, was the headboard. I originally made it 10 plus years ago, which is crazy to think about, but it was the first piece I made for my first apartment after graduating high school. Throughout the years, it's always been in use, and it's honestly aged beautifully! The fabric I originally chose is still so fitting, and I thought long and hard about keeping it, but in the long run I decided to give it a slight refresh by recovering the fabric with something ...
Guest Bedroom Dresser Makeover
There's nothing quite like having overnight guests coming to give you that needed push to get your guest room in shape... that's right, my cousins came to stay with us for a night, and it completely motivated me to get the guest room to a state where it could actually function as a guest room! (Hand clap!) I know I've been slow to share any progress on the room, but that's about to change! Let's talk about how I gave our old guest bedroom dresser a makeover! Do you remember when I shared the moodboard for the room? Well, included in that, I knew I wanted to use the existing dresser we had in the space, but just give it an updated look by painting it black, and then updating ...
Painted Guest Bedroom Wall
Well, I finally painted the guest bedroom wall. I knew it would probably be a little bit tricky since I was going from a white plank wall to a dark black/green wall... and I was right. This was one of the more time consuming walls I've painted lately, but it was worth the extra time! When I first shared my design inspiration and mood board for our new guest bedroom, I envisioned a dark plank wall that would tie in with several other dark accents throughout the room. I want the room to feel warm and cozy. The dark paint color helps create that warm feeling... but it wasn't the easiest to make happen. Back when the room was our office, we installed the plank wall and I painted it a ...
Guest Room Plan
With the office almost done (we only have a few things left to do!), I'm starting to turn my attention to our guest room. And I have to say, I am pretty excited about this room... I think it has something to do with the fact that our last guest room pretty much just stored overflow items. Sure, it had a bed and a dresser and the such, but stacked on the bed and on the dresser was "stuff" I didn't know what to do with. If guest were coming over, I'd spend a few good hours in there managing the "stuff". The closet was beyond hope, so I prayed our guests wouldn't open the doors. It's purely comical for me at this point, because it was a total wreck. But, not anymore! Here's the guest room ...
Master Bedroom Dresser Night Stand
Bedrooms need storage, and there's no better way to add that than by converting a dresser into a night stand. It offers more storage space, all while giving the flexibility of size, shape, and form to match your decor style. See how I transformed our master bedroom dresser into a night stand... One thing I've really noticed about our bedroom, is the lack of storage. Our closet is connected to our master bathroom, and while that's great, and all our clothes fit perfectly, we don't really have any storage for other items. We had two small night stands, and a dresser that was not being properly used. Right after I gave our new night stand a makeover, I realized just how much we really ...
Bedroom Night Stand Makeover
Before I gave this bedroom night stand a makeover, it was dark, dated and a little depressed. See how the power of paint and a little bit of hard work transformed this beautiful night stand! I'm slowly working on our master bedroom. It's always been the room that "collects" things. If I don't know where to put something, it usually ends up in our bedroom. But, times, they are a changing, and I have big plans for our bedroom. For one, it would be nice to actually feel relaxed in there. Instead, I always catch myself looking around at all the things laying around. It's definitely not the prettiest room in the house, that is a fact. And two, we had a little mishap in our master ...
Easy DIY Ruffled Bed Skirt
Slowly, project by project, our master bedroom is making small strides. Getting this room in shape is on my project goal list for the year and it's one room that really needs it. I have no idea why it seems to "collect" the miscellaneous decor items, but it does. And every time it collects a bit more, I make it my mission to fix it. Today, I'm sharing an easy DIY ruffled bed skirt. It's made me so excited to keep moving forward with the our bedroom. I have so many ideas and plans for the room and I can't wait to tell you more about them. In the mean time, I am positively thrilled with this easy project! Here's how I made it, and the supplies I used: Please note: Some of ...
Thrift Store Headboard & Footboard
I seriously cannot contain my excitement for my latest thrift store find.... Eeee! On a spur of the moment decision, I stopped by our local thrift store. I scoped out the downstairs and then made my way upstairs (YES, our thrift store does have 2 floors... AND I live in a small town...?!). I had just rounded the corner from the book section and walked right into a whole bunch of brass headboards. Immediately, my heart started beating overly fast! You see, I've had my heart set on this certain headboard for awhile now. It's from Pottery Barn (shocker), but the price was waaay out of my budget... Pottery Barn But in that huge pile of headboards, was the one... And it just happened ...
Master Bedroom Curtains
Our house is basically curtain-less. Yes, we do have bamboo blinds, but they're a bit see through... My husband thought I was insane, literally, when we got them in the mail. He wanted me to send them back, but I couldn't. I had to give them a chance... They have really grown on me. Some days I go back and forth between the light color, which we have, and the dark color bamboo. I might eventually want to switch them out one by one for something darker, but I'm completely happy with them for now. One big draw back though: they are completely see through at night! It's not like we have to worry a ton about it. I'm pretty sure our corn and bean crops aren't staring at us with binoculars or ...
Master Bedroom Progress: Part 1
If you'll notice, I have deemed the master bedroom a series. This would be Part 1. Yes, we have made some progress. Lots of it really, but there's still so much to do! I'm not going to get overwhelmed, I'm not going to get overwhelmed. :) I'm a big believer in white bedding. It's so pretty and it makes the room look luxurious, while drawing attention to the bed. We finally got all of the blinds installed (some were on back order) and now I am on the hunt for curtains. As you'll be able to tell from the pictures, the bamboo blinds are definitely see through. And that's a problem. :) Here's what we've got going on right now, which is a total work in progress. No, it's not bad. I ...
Style Board Series: Master Closet
I'm pretty sure that I have closet envy. Yes, it's possible. And yes, it's serious. Right now the hubby and I share a small closet. He has half and I have half. Or he has a 1/3 and I have the rest. Whatever. However you look at it, we've crammed that baby full and the sad thing is, it's only housing half of our winter clothes. No summerness is involved yet. Let me just say that a walk in closet will provide the much needed therapy to get me over my "wecan'tfitanotherthinginthiscloset" phobia. Look it up, you'll find that listed as a phobia. I'm certain. With the house progressing (I'll have an update on that soon. I promise.) it's becoming a wee bit easier to visualize the finished ...
Style Board Series- Master Bedroom
Heya!! Happy Friday to everyone and welcome to another post in the Home Inspiration Style Board Series! Last week we talked about the design for my future office (which I'm still loving, but have thought of more ideas) and today the focus is all about the master bedroom. These days it's all about a soothing environment, and since words are the best way to describe how you want a room to look, I decided to put together a little list that fits the image in my head. Here's what I'm thinking: Soft Soothing Comforting Relaxing Luxurious Welcoming Bright Layered Cheerful While picking out items to match up to my descriptions, I kept seeing images of luxury hotel bedrooms pop into my ...
