The guest bedroom is moving along, which is so nice to see since the room sat as a complete danger (aka, junk) zone for months... When I decided to give this room a much needed refresh, one of the elements I knew I wanted to keep, was the headboard. I originally made it 10 plus years ago, which is crazy to think about, but it was the first piece I made for my first apartment after graduating high school. Throughout the years, it's always been in use, and it's honestly aged beautifully! The fabric I originally chose is still so fitting, and I thought long and hard about keeping it, but in the long run I decided to give it a slight refresh by recovering the fabric with something ...

Guest Bedroom Dresser Makeover
There's nothing quite like having overnight guests coming to give you that needed push to get your guest room in shape... that's right, my cousins came to stay with us for a night, and it completely motivated me to get the guest room to a state where it could actually function as a guest room! (Hand clap!) I know I've been slow to share any progress on the room, but that's about to change! Let's talk about how I gave our old guest bedroom dresser a makeover! Do you remember when I shared the moodboard for the room? Well, included in that, I knew I wanted to use the existing dresser we had in the space, but just give it an updated look by painting it black, and then updating ...
Updated Dresser Hardware
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I took a few weeks off for the holiday, and it was very much needed, but I've been busy behind the blog scene prepping for Christmas! I've been decorating up a storm, creating new ways to celebrate Christmas in our home and I'm loving the fresh new perspective I've gained on our home. There are so many changes getting ready to hit the blog, and I'm so excited to share more about the things we've been busy changing up and moving around! In the midst of Christmas decorating, walking around plastic totes filled to the brim of decorations, moving furniture around and switching things up, we had time to switch out and update the hardware on the dresser ...
Master Bathroom Shelf Makeover
See how easy it was to complete this master bathroom shelf makeover. I'm sharing my step by step tutorial and the results are beautiful! Sometimes projects turn out a little less awesome than I expect (gasp!, right?), and then there are projects that entirely exceed my expectations. Projects that exceed my expectations automatically hold a spot in my heart. I'm a very visual person, and can generally see past anything to envision something entirely different. That's where today's master bathroom shelf makeover comes into play. When I was looking to share a project for this month's paint makeover post, I walked into the thrift store in search for something "blog-worthy". True ...
Fold Up Side Table Makeover
Painting furniture is easily one of the best ways to get major bang for your buck. Not only can you completely transform a piece of furniture, but it also does the budget good. Furniture that was once ugly, dated and neglected can quickly transform into the belle of the ball... That's the power of paint, and it's been no secret here on the blog that I love to repurpose old furniture, and give a good makeover. Today's project specializes on just that... the power of paint! Do you remember my friend Chelsea and her fall dining room that I just shared last week? Swoon, right? Well, she'd been looking for the perfect little side table for her living room, and I happened to stumble ...
Breakfast Nook Table Makeover
I mentioned yesterday how much I've wanted to give our breakfast nook table a makeover. It's felt really "orange" to me lately, and that doesn't really work. When I found new chairs for the table, I finally had the push I needed. I gave the table a makeover. Really, the process was pretty simple. It was just time consuming. Here's how it got a new look... First, I started by sanding the table and legs. This was easily the most time consuming part. To begin, I used a coarse sand paper, and then finished the table with 220 fine grit sand paper. Let me just tell you, this table is smooth. The hardest spots to sand, were right in the corners, but I got ...
Black Dining Room Chairs Makeover
Our dining room has come a loooong way. I kind of shudder at some of the first pictures I posted several years ago. We've changed basically ever single item in the room, except for the table and original chairs that came with the set. The most recent change I made, was the black end chairs. Today, I'm sharing their makeover. The story behind these beauties is simple: Girl was riding with friend when friend drove by storage unit sale. Girl saw chairs and gasped. Girl made said friend turn around the car to buy the chairs. Girl made said friend stuff them into said friends car. Girl was so happy. Girl vowed to make them beautiful. Said friend giggled at girl's excitement. Girl gave chairs a ...
Master Bedroom Dresser Night Stand
Bedrooms need storage, and there's no better way to add that than by converting a dresser into a night stand. It offers more storage space, all while giving the flexibility of size, shape, and form to match your decor style. See how I transformed our master bedroom dresser into a night stand... One thing I've really noticed about our bedroom, is the lack of storage. Our closet is connected to our master bathroom, and while that's great, and all our clothes fit perfectly, we don't really have any storage for other items. We had two small night stands, and a dresser that was not being properly used. Right after I gave our new night stand a makeover, I realized just how much we really ...
Bedroom Night Stand Makeover
Before I gave this bedroom night stand a makeover, it was dark, dated and a little depressed. See how the power of paint and a little bit of hard work transformed this beautiful night stand! I'm slowly working on our master bedroom. It's always been the room that "collects" things. If I don't know where to put something, it usually ends up in our bedroom. But, times, they are a changing, and I have big plans for our bedroom. For one, it would be nice to actually feel relaxed in there. Instead, I always catch myself looking around at all the things laying around. It's definitely not the prettiest room in the house, that is a fact. And two, we had a little mishap in our master ...
Outdoor Coffee Table Makeover
Our patio furniture makeover continues to be one of my very favorite things I've ever painted. And that's saying something since I basically live with a paint brush in my hand. When I found our set on Craigslist, I knew the coffee table would need a bit of reworking. I didn't love the current set up, and I thought it really dated the furniture set. But, I also knew the coffee table had great bones, so a makeover would be easy. I was right. Really, this was a simple little update. Here's what we started with... After I removed everything but the bottom frame, here's what was left... Because there was a great indent on the frame, we decided to fill it with a piece of ...
Outdoor Patio Furniture Makeover
Oh. Man. I am so excited to share one of my biggest furniture makeover's to date! Early this spring, I decided it was time to put to use, and really use, our back patio. Until a about a month ago, we had a huge, lovely patio with random miscellaneous furniture. And some of it wanted to blow away when the wind hit. I was tired of chasing chairs across our farm fields. And as soon as I made up my mind to finally buy a new patio set, our dishwasher decided to skip out. Needless to say, I wanted a dishwasher more than patio furniture. So, just like that, my furniture budget was gone. My determination and desire for a patio set, however, was still there. What's a girl to do? About a week ...
Bird House Makeover
I love hearing the birds chirp. It's such a happy sound! And since we don't have very big trees, I love it when they do decide to stop by and sing a tune for the house. That's exactly why I was so excited to have a cute little bird house to give a makeover. I want them to feel welcome, and to sing away, so it was perfect timing. I love it when that happens. Here's what the house looked like before... Not bad at all, but it needed a little makeover. Plus, easy projects like this add that perfect touch of character and are my very favorite. They're the type of thing you notice in a full room. And walking up to the house with this little cutie hanging in the tree is ...
Milk Stool Makeover
I think I may have mentioned before that I really, really love a good stool. There's just something about them. And heaven knows I've done my fair share of makeovers on a stool or two. This girl can't resist them. And today's makeover fits into that same category... Here's what she looked like when I started. Very cute, but a little roughed up... Easy enough to fix though, I just turned her over and added a couple coats of paint... For this makeover, I used Mushroom by Maison Blanche. I seriously love this color. It's the perfect creamy/ gray/ taupe. Such a fabulous color and you will definitely see more projects with me using it! Once the paint dried, and I ...
Child’s Desk Makeover
A while back my sister in law went on a little antique shopping trip with me and stumbled upon a cute child's desk. Albeit, the desk needed a bit of TLC, and definitely a new paint job, but it was perfect for my nephews, so we loaded it up and she dropped it off at my house. After getting a few new coats of paint, and a sanded top, here's what it looks like now: And here's what we started with... Since I wanted to give the desk a makeover the boys could grow with, I chose to go black. Wrought Iron by Maison Blanche to be exact. Here's what it looked like with one coat... And the chair... The paint covered really well. Here's what I was left with after two ...
Black Sofa Table Makeover
I've had so much on my to do list lately, that I've felt like I've been spinning. And not necessarily in a good way. More like the kind of spinning that leads to zero progress on anything. It's not my favorite feeling in the world. And in the midst of not knowing what I was doing, I decided I knew exactly what I needed... to paint something. The painting can totally be therapeutic for me. I was craving it... and ended up with this pretty little black sofa table makeover... I picked this little lady up at a thrift store, and couldn't get past the shape of her legs. Clearly she's a lady. She was in remarkable shape, but problem was, I just couldn't get past the tiger stripe ...
How To Paint a Filing Cabinet
I can't be the only one who has (or had) a filing cabinet that's not the prettiest thing to look at. And since we must have them for our office to survive the chaos of paper, I decided it was silly to not paint ours. While the cabinet itself wasn't bad, I'm not a huge fan of orange oak wood. It's just not my favorite thing. And now that the office is starting to make big progress, I decided it was time to paint the filing cabinet. So, here's an easy way on how to paint a filing cabinet.... If you happen to have a filing cabinet that you can't stand looking at, please promise me you'll paint it. Our office feels like a new place now that it blends in with the desk. Here's what ...
Park Bench Makeover
Today is all about a really cute park bench that found its way from the fixer upper, to our home. Anthony and I spend a lot of time in our detached garage/ shop working on projects for the house/ farm and blog, but the thing is, we never really had a place to sit and take a breather. To enjoy life. To wait for paint/ stain/ or glue to dry. And the garage itself doesn't have room inside (ahem, we have quite the tool collection....), so I took advantage of a sweet little spot right outside the door. :-D Now, we have a pretty little place to enjoy, laugh, and dream up new projects! Lucky us! And as for that bench, here's what it looked like before... It was rough. The ...
Mint Step Stool
Alright, I admit it. I really love me a step stool. Big or small, tall or short, I just really love them. (Here's some proof: Stool 1, Stool 2, Stool 3!) So much in fact, that I currently have four sitting in our garage. I can't help myself. If I see one at a garage or estate sale, I practically hover over the thing until it ends up in the truck and on the way to our house. And even though I don't ever want to admit it, at some point, I won't be able to use all of them. At some point. Luckily, we haven't reached it yet! :-D Today, I'm showing off this lovely little mint step stool I had the honor of giving a mint-ey makeover... My heart just skipped a beat at the huge amount of ...
Whitewashed Mirror
Garage sales are still one of my very favorite places to find awesome things. Typically, the prices can't be beat and you find unique items. Sure, a lot of the time you have to wade through the bad to find the good, but that's part of the process. Luckily, I can tell pretty quickly if a stop is worth my time, or if I should keep driving. A few weeks ago, I was heading to pick up my parents power washer for an upcoming project, and on the way I drove by a pretty neat garage sale. My eye quickly landed on an antique mirror, so I couldn't resist pulling over. I'm happy I followed my instinct, because I ended up with a pretty awesome mirror for $5.00, not to mention the other goodies I ...
Red Outdoor Stool
Oh man! I am totally gearing up to start my fall front porch decorating! It's one of my favorite places to spruce up each season. It's the first place people see when they walk into our home, so I like to keep it consistent with the decorating inside, while still making it interesting and different from season to season. This year, I'm adding a bit more red to my fall decorating. I really like it. Next to dark blue, it's my second favorite color to add throughout the house. That's one of the reasons I'm really excited to share today's project. That, and, I have a new and very exciting product to share, OUTDOOR vintage furniture paint. That's right, all that great chalky paint I've been ...
Painted Office Cabinets
As you know, I've been jabbering on and on about how the office needs additional storage space for my growing collection of crafting/ painting/ sewing supplies. As luck would have it, a while back I stumbled upon a beautiful set of cabinets with glass doors. I knew they'd be perfect for the office, so I loaded them up and brought them home. For months (upon months and months), they sat in our garage, collecting dust, while waiting for me to decide what I was going to do with them. I had the hardest time deciding if I was going to paint them white to match our desk set or refinish them and stain them a lighter color. I went back and forth several times, but ultimately decided to give them ...
