2013 Christmas Home Tour

Welcome! It’s all about Christmas today!

This year I wanted to focus on the handmade side of things, so I spent a lot of time actually making many of the things in our home and in the pictures below. We like to really cherish our time together rather than rushing around to buy the latest and greatest and there’s so much more meaning to a home, and gift, when it’s been handmade…

I’m so happy to invite you into our home… Go grab your favorite drink, a yummy snack and sit back to enjoy the tour…

Welcome to our Christmas home tour!

Our entryway…

  1. Your home is beautiful. Could you please tell us how you keep the Rosemary alive. I have killed 3 of them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

    1. THANK YOU so very much, Patty! For the Rosemary, I find that watering them EVERYDAY is almost key. They also don’t like the water to actually touch them and it’s best if no sort of air is blowing on them. I hope that helps! 😀
      Merry Christmas!

  11. What a gorgeously decorated home! It looks so cozy. 🙂 I got a million great ideas from looking at your photos; thanks for sharing! If you don’t mind my asking, where did you get the white (mug?) jar holding the candy canes on the shelf in the eighth photograph? I am swooning over here.

    1. THANK YOU so very much, Kayla! I’m so happy you’re inspired! 😀
For the white mug, I bought it a while back at Pier One. I absolutely love it!
      Hope that helps!
      -Shayna

  12. Your home is absolutely STUNNING! There are so many details I love, but, that wreath!? Magnificent! And I completely agree with you about slowing down and gifting special handmade items. I’m trying to do more of that this year!

  13. Love it all just breath taking .I love your wing back chair and was wondering where you got it or did you upholstery it yourself.

    1. THANK YOU so much, Clara! I bought the wingback chair at Salvation Army and just finished reupholstering it. That was a doozy! 😀
      -Shayna

          1. Thanks so much can’t wait .I just love how you decorate or house and anxious to see what you do next .I’m so glad I found your blog.

          2. I was wondering what you use to upholsterer your wing back chair and where you got your ticks. I’m so in love with it . thanks Clara

          3. THANK YOU so very much, Clara! 😀
For the fabric, I used a thicker muslin. It’s such a fabulous fabric, and the texture is great. I bought the tacks at Ace Hardware.
I hope that helps. I’ll be posting a tutorial soon! 😀
            -Shayna

  14. What fun it is to see the holiday transformation of your home. The warm neutrals with a splash of greenery looks so festive! If you don’t mind my asking…what color stain is used on your kitchen cupboards? I really like the dark look with the warm tones of the wood showing! I want my upper cupboards a dark color, but I felt a black paint would be too harsh. Thanks so much!

  15. Hi Shayna, I don’t know where to start.
How about by saying of love the new walls.
I’m also in love with how you use natural, simple textures . It
created such a nice balance. Just like in nature, unexpected pops of color take your eyes from one beauty to another.
Thanks for sharing your creativity. the tour was fantastic.
    You all inspire me.
    Merry Christmas to you all!!!

    1. Awe, Diane! THANK YOU so very much! I love simple and natural, so I try to use that as much as possible! 😀
I’m so happy you enjoyed the tour! 😀
      Merry Christmas!
      -Shayna

      Merry Christmas!

  16. Beautiful and your photos are a delightful. I love all the natural greenery and grapevine. I’ll be anxious to read about your living room walls 🙂

  17. Your house is adorable! Love everything about it! Wondering if you might remember where you purchased the towel rack on your island? My hubby just built me a beautiful island for my kitchen and I wanted to add a towel rack to it and would love to find one like yours. THANKS!!!

    1. THANK YOU so very much, Kim! I’m so happy you enjoyed the tour! 😀
The towel rack on our island came with it… we bought the island at Home Depot. I hope that helps…
      Enjoy your new island! 😀
      -Shayna

    1. Awe, Traci! THANK YOU so very much! I’m so happy you enjoyed the tour! Merry Christmas! 😀
THANK YOU for the pins! 😀
      -Shayna

  18. Hi. I just discovered your website today. Where did you get the rug by your front door in your entry way? That is exactly what I want. 🙂

  19. Everything looks wonderful. I love your holiday décor. The mix of white and black incorporated with your stained wood pieces is a decorating look that I enjoy. As much as the “all white” decorating look is so popular, I so love your mix. Your holiday tour is Christmas simplicity with the right amount of relaxing and cheerful warmth. Have a Merry Christmas.
