Metal Banner
See how easy it is to make this DIY metal banner. I’m sharing my full tutorial below.
We all know how much I like banners… I’ve made them out of burlap and sticks, I’ve made them out of plaid and today I’m sharing my metal banner!
Yes, metal!
This did take a bit longer to make than the traditional fabric or burlap banner, bit it’s also really different and something new to look at!
Metal Banner
To make it, I used a 12″ x 24″ sheet of 26 gauge galvanized sheet metal and a 24″ x 36″ sheet of Lincane 20 gauge decorative metal.
I love the decorative sheet metal, it looks like lace…
I started by cutting the decorative metal with tin snips…. be careful it’s sharp!
Then I cut the galvanized metal…. I made them smaller than the “lace” banners. I just used a sharpie to trace them onto the metal and then cut them out.
Tin snips work best…
Once I had everything cut out….
I placed the galvanized metal on top of the lace, then cleaned everything with a clean rag and rubbing alcohol. The alcohol removed any remaining sharpie marks.
With everything lined up how I wanted, I used super glue to glue the two together…
I just squeezed the two together for a bit, then let them dry. It worked perfectly!
To make the banner, I used 22 gauge galvanized wire…
And wove the wire through the lace…
With that, it was done!
I couldn’t decide where to put it first, so it went into the dining room…
Then I moved it to our living room shelves…
And then it went into the breakfast nook…
I absolutely love it!
And that lace metal basically completes me…
I’m so excited to use it for Christmas decorating, which is entirely underway! Christmas. stuff. is. everywhere.!
But I’m definitely not complaining… 🙂
P.S.- This banner is a bit sharp, so it’s best kept out of reach!
