It's officially pumpkin season, and I'm not sad about that! Whether they're on the shelves in the dining room, as the main centerpiece on the table, or stacked up on the front porch, I'm making plenty of room for them this year. I mean, I planted a bunch of them in my garden, so ready or not, pumpkins it is! And while fresh pumpkins are the real deal, beyond stunning and the perfect way to jazz up your home for fall, they're not the only pumpkin out there! Faux pumpkins come in many different shapes and styles, and several of them look just as fabulous as the real deal... but some of them... weeellll, they're not only fake, they're just not the best to look at. Nothing a little paint ...

How To Make A Floral Letter
Happy Thursday friends! I hope you've had a great week. Sorry about the radio silence on the blog this week. I've been working hard to get everything finished up for my e-book launch, which takes place on Monday, May 30th! It's coming fast! If you want to read more about it, click here. For today's project, I'm focusing on one of the décor items I made for the baby shower I hosted for my cousin a few weeks ago. When deciding on the theme for the baby shower, I kept going back to florals... and that worked especially well since my cousin is having a baby girl. Since they already had a name picked out, I decided to combine the floral theme I loved, with the baby name. As a result, I had ...

It only takes 3 simple steps... First, I bought the wire berry vine at JoAnn's, but I've seen this type of product at other craft stores as well. I loved the cream berries, and knew they would work with any season, but you could easily buy colored berries, flowers, etc to match the season. Here's ...
How To Make Ribbon From Fabric
Today I wanted to share a really simple way to make ribbon from fabric. Sometimes finding cute ribbon with a specific "look" in mind can be harder than you'd think. Or, you see fabric and just know it would look amazing as ribbon. I've used this trick several times, and each time I do, I'm always reminded how much I love it! :-D It's super simple to do, and really only requires the fabric and a pair of scissors! Here's how you make it... First, lay your fabric on the floor, or flat surface, length wise.... Then, decide how wide you want your ribbon to be, and snip a small section of the fabric with the scissors... Next, begin by pulling the fabric, then place your ...

In case you're new here, $30 Thursday takes place the first Thursday of each month and we each share a project or idea that you can recreate for $30 or less. This month, I'm sharing my DIY Beef Butcher Guide Canvas.... I've seen a few floating around and I'm always so drawn to them... I must say, making it brought back all sorts of memories for me. I was in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H throughout high school and grade school. In my Ag class, we studied and studied the butcher guide for beef. It was so fun to go back and ...
DIY Picture Frame Clock
Are you ready for a quick and easy project that looks great? This DIY Picture Frame Clock is the prefect project to add a bit of character and it's so easy to customize! I'm loving how it turned out... To make it, I started with a 5" x 7" frame and a clock kit from the craft store... After I removed the glass, I pulled off the picture frame backing and cut a piece of wood to fit the 5" x 7" opening of the frame... Because the clock parts were made for a 3/4" thick surface, that's what we used... We drilled a hole in the middle of the wood... Then I cut a piece of scrap book paper to the size of the frame and notched a hole in the center... I used a ...
Bless Our Home Burlap Sign
Today I'm sharing the project that I created for the Michaels and Hometalk in-store Pinterest party! In case you missed it, I shared all the details in yesterdays post! For my project, I chose to use the 16 x 20 burlap panel. I couldn't wait to make a big framed sign! To make it, I started with a black frame and the wrapped burlap panel. Then, I removed the glass from the frame and placed the burlap inside... With the burlap inside the frame, I used a stencil, from Michaels, with an olive leaf branch and centered it inside the frame. Because I wanted to have 2 branches, I spaced them both evenly in the frame, then traced a part of the stencil onto the burlap for easy placement later... ...

Wood Slab Sign
If you've been reading The WGC for awhile, you've probably noticed that I really love thick slabs of wood. There's just something about them. They look great and they can be used in so many different ways. Today, I'm showing another way I'm using them, as a Wood Slab Sign! Be still my heart, because I am in love! Here's how I made it: I started with this thick wood slab... My awesome uncle delivers these to me whenever I ask. He cuts them with his chain saw off of a fallen aspen tree on his ranch. He's truly awesome! He also brought me the wood that I turned into a serving tray and he lets me collect driftwood anytime I need it for projects like this, this, or this. ...
How To Make Fabric Rosette’s
Remember that JOY-full pillow I shared a few days ago? Well, one of my favorite things about it was those lovely fabric rosette's. Today, I'm showing you how to make them! Here's how: I started with 1 1/2 yards of muslin fabric about 20" long. Then, I laid a yardstick on top of the fabric and cut at least an inch slit every 2 inches... Once the entire piece of fabric was marked, I started pulling the fabric into strips... It pulls really easily and you're left with this: Now, to make the rosette, the fabric must be folded in half. Like this: Then, start by rolling one end tightly until it's about the thickness of your finger... Add a ...
Denim Leaves
In preparation for setting our Thanksgiving table, I've been collecting a few of my favorite fall things. And I really wanted to make some denim leaves... A few years ago I found a gorgeous shaped leaf. I've packed it around for a while and it's made an appearance in a few different decorating vignettes around the house. Right now it's in our dining room... Have I mentioned that I love the shape? Mer-cy! So, I decided to make a few copies of it... with denim! I reeally love the back side of denim, so I traced the leaf shape onto the "normal" side of the fabric with a white fabric pencil. Then I just cut it out... And used the cut out leaf as my new ...
How To Make A Plaid Banner
One of the things that I love most about our fall shelves this year, is the plaid banner. Not only did it finish everything off, but it added another depth of texture. And it was so simple to make! Here's how: Start by cutting the flags. Pick any size or shape and cut as many as you want. I used 5. Next, lay the flags on a flat surface and space them apart evenly. Roll out jute rope across the entire thing, leaving extra string on the ends to hang the banner. Then run a bead of hot glue across the top of the flag. Be sure to leave room at the top to fold the fabric over. Press the jute rope on top of the hot glue... Then run another bead of hot glue ...
Burlap Welcome Banner
Today I'm sharing a project I originally posted last fall... I seriously love this banner! Not only is it such a simple and cheap project, but it looks amazing and it's completely versatile! I can't wait to hang it back up! I hope you enjoy it as much as I still do! -------------------------------- Banners are everywhere. This is certainly not the first or last one you will ever see. But I might as well jump on the bandwagon since it's something that I've always loved, just never done. However, I think the stick letters punch it up a level. Again, it's so very easy to create. I used the same tutorial as my fall saying for the letters. The banner was equally easy. Here's ...
Chicken Wire Cups
When we redid the shed and gave it a makeover, one thing I really wanted to add were the faux windows. And with them, I couldn't wait to have chicken wire cups hanging from the fencing wire. They have so many uses and I love the idea of actually planting in them next spring. In the mean time, they look fabulous with the freshly clipped greenery... And they're so easy to make, just like the chicken wire baskets I shared earlier. Here's how I made them: First, I cut the chicken wire to my desired size... Then, I wrapped the wire around... And wrapped the wire edges around each side... To make the bottom, I pushed the chicken wire up and attached all ...

DIY Burlap Flag
Welcome to the project that almost wasn't. I almost gave up on it. Twice. Generally, I'm a patient person. I can handle situations that prove to be challenging and if anything, I'll do it just because I didn't think I could. Then came this project. It's been on my "to-do" list for a little while and I was really ready to give the entry way a few different accessories. This project tried my patience. The only reason I didn't toss it in the trash, was because I knew it could look amazing... That, and I couldn't let freezer paper get the best of me. But to be completely honest, I could have saved myself a little bit of frustration along the way. For some reason, I had ...
