Living Room Shelving: Before & After

A while back I shared the new shelving in our living room. It’s made such a big difference to the room, and our entire house really. Having such an open floor plan can often make it a little bit difficult to really separate certain “rooms” when everything is so open to one another. The key is to create separate rooms, while still having a cohesive vibe that flows from room to room. Our living room shelving helped to create just that in the house. I wanted something that would tie in with the rest of our home, but still create a distinct living room zone. I’m thrilled with the outcome!

So today, I’m sharing a little before and after post of the progression with our living room, and I know many of you mentioned that you’d like to see it too! So, here goes!

Here’s our living room before…

After we installed the board and batten on the walls, I added a few other elements (like the framed farm sacks), but I left the room pretty basic. This room has always been a work in progress for me, and because it’s on the smaller side, I’ve always struggled a tiny bit with what I wanted to incorporate. The shelving was the perfect addition because it was slim enough to save valuable floor space, and open enough with the structure of the shelves to not create an overly “heavy” feeling that the room couldn’t handle.

I still plan on making a few other additions, and I’m going to hang the antlers back up, centered over the T.V., but this progress feels great!

It’s always fun to look back and see the changes and new additions to our home. The shelves certainly made a huge difference for our living room, and I am looking forward to switching up the décor throughout the seasons.
