Huge Office Picture with Custom Frame
I promise, we are still working on our home office. Honestly, I haven’t wanted to just “bust it out” and be done, because rushing though it would mean that I, rushed through it. And while it may work at the time, will it last the long haul? So, I’ve been taking my time. Adding things that make sense, and removing the things that don’t. And that takes time.
A few months ago I contacted my lovely friend, Jenna Sue at Jenna Sue Designs. I knew exactly what I wanted to add to our office. I wanted a bit of personal meaning in a space that I seem to be spending more and more and more time in.
I sent her the picture, and she printed it out…
You might just recognize the tree from the picture. It’s what I use for just about everything Wood Grain Cottage related. It’s not only my business design, but it’s incredibly personal. Things like that make me weak at the knees. #itsallcomingtogether
It was an easy decision. And it’s definitely one of the things I love most about our office…
Now, here’s how we attached it to the wall and made the frame…
I had Jenna print it out as big as possible, so it’s a whopping 64″ long x 44″ tall. It came rolled up, so I set it out on our dining room for a few days to let it relax a bit, then used command strips on each corner…
With the command strips in place, Anthony and I made sure it was centered and level, then we pressed the strips onto the wall. As a double bonus, these do pull off of the picture really well, so if I do want to move the picture, we can.
Then, we measured and built the actual frame…
I wanted to keep as much of the picture as possible, so we added a half inch to each side of the frame, making the total frame dimensions: 45″ tall x 65″ wide.
For the actual frame, we used pine 1″ x 2″ boards. We cut them to size, used clamps to keep everything tight, then nailed them together…
I used Early American stain from Minwax…
Then added dark finishing wax and buffed the frame…
Once it was done, we added large, heavy weight command strips to the back…
Together, Anthony and I leveled the frame and stuck it to the wall around the picture. The command strips set on the wall, not the picture. 😀
My heart is just in big time love with it!
Especially the whole white and wood thing…
The plank wall is the perfect backdrop for the picture… perfect, I tell ya!
And that metal and wood wall organizer that we made a while back, well it looks perfect with that as well!
I’m slowly starting to find things that I love to incorporate. Metal seems to be a theme. Me likey! 😀
And the fact that I get to look at the tree that inspired it all, well that’s just the big cherry on top…
Just in case you aren’t familiar with the tree, it’s from my parents farm. I spent my childhood running, jumping, dreaming and growing up right underneath it. It’s been such an inspiration for me from the very beginning, so it’s only fitting it’s found its way to my home too.
I also want to tell you all about Jenna Sue. Seriously, this girl rocks my world. Have you stopped by her blog, or looked at her house? You’re welcome. AND, not only is she completely and utterly talented in the home decor/ design/ DIY area, she has an incredible shop with so many awesome things! I’m already dreaming up a few other things I want her to do.
THANK YOU so much, Jenna Sue! We love it!
I’ll be back with a few more updates soon! Adding this picture has given me all sorts of creative mojo! 😀
P.S. This was not a sponsored post. I love to share things that I genuinely love! 😀

Hi Shayna, That picture is just gorgeous. Reminds me of a weeping willow i used to play under at my grandparents home some 58 years ago. Wish i had a picture of that tree now but it’s not there anymore. But i got goosebumps when I saw yours. It looks right at home in your office. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Diena

I love this picture so so much. Any chance I could snag a copy? I understand if you’d prefer not to, for sentimental reasons, but a recreation of this would look perfect in my own home…
