Bringing Summer Inside
One of my favorite elements of summer, is all the gorgeous blooms and green foliage. Even the weeds look amazing this time of year, so lush and vibrant. I recently took a walk around our property and was surrounded by so much beauty! New Breakfast Nook Light
More details on our breakfast nook today! After we added the new stainless steel table to the room, I knew our old lantern style light had to go. It didn't fit the shape and style of the table, and it felt too small since the new table was much longer in size. And to be totally truthful, I'd been envisioning a different style light... When we brought in our new table to the breakfast nook from our the upstairs loft of our detached garage, I absolutely loved how the longer, slimmer table filled the space. Today I wanted to share the evolution of our breakfast nook. Not only is it fun to look back and see the progress we've made with the house, but it's very interesting to see how much my style has changed as time has gone on. Breakfast Nook Table Makeover
I mentioned yesterday how much I've wanted to give our breakfast nook table a makeover. It's felt really "orange" to me lately, and that doesn't really work. When I found new chairs for the table, I finally had the push I needed. I gave the table a makeover. Really, the process was pretty simple. It was just time consuming. Here's how it got a new look... First, I started by sanding the table and legs. This was easily the most time consuming part. To begin, I used a coarse sand paper, and then finished the table with 220 fine grit sand paper. I've been dreaming of wall lights on either side of our breakfast nook window for a few months now. I love the way they look, and they add that extra detail that really makes a room feel finished. Combining Board & Batten With Planked Walls
We've been working on adding custom finishing touches to our home since we built it 4 years ago. We've updated much of lighting, built a bench for our breakfast nook, and added board and batten and plank walls throughout the house. How To Hang Plates On The Wall
Today it's all about how to hang plates on the wall. I've tried to do this the cheap way with the paper clip/ hot glue option, but it's been unsuccessful and I broke a few dishes along the way... Not again, I vowed, and these plates are holding strong! This really was an easy project. I wanted to showcase some of the lovely dishes I have collected over the years. A few weekends ago one of my best friends and I went to Salt Lake City, Utah to The Vintage Whites Market. Oh. My. Goodness. To sum up the trip, I was basically like a kid in a candy store. Numbered Side Table Makeover
I really like numbers, so today I'm sharing my cute little numbered side table makeover... I've had the little side table for awhile. It's sat in our guest bedroom, waiting for inspiration to strike... and it finally did... I'm so happy with the way it turned out...
