Valentines Day Table

I have something special in store for today, some Valentines Day decorating and entertaining ideas! Valentines Day decorating isn’t a normal thing around here, and I typically don’t do too much, but today I’m joining a group of very talented bloggers to bring you some Valentines Day entertaining ideas! Lory from Designthusiasm asked me to join in on the fun and I’m sharing my very simplified version of a Valentines Day dessert table, buffet style.

If you’re stopping by from Eleven Gables, welcome to our home!

Staying true to my norm, I kept it simple… just like Anthony and I do every year. We’ve never been a couple who goes overboard for Valentines Day, and for me that’s perfectly acceptable. Just me making a cake, his favorite cookies, or a dinner he really likes lets him know I’ve thought about him. And in my ideal world of Valentines Day, I would get the same simplified treatment. Thus, my “buffet”, is nothing more than that! I baked a simple confetti gluten free cake mix, made some frosting and set up my own happy tea party.

More than just splurging on excessive things for the day, I’m approaching it as a way to celebrate those around me. I like the idea of hosting my closest friends and family for a simple cake and hot tea party, all while sharing in on their joy, laughter and friendship.

Of course, fresh flowers are always a joy to have around the house, and they really brighten up the room, so I splurged and created this lovely little bouquet from grocery store flowers…

I used four different variety of flowers, and two of them were from the clearance section! The flowers may be a day or two past their prime, but I sure couldn’t tell.

They’re lovely beyond belief, and the perfect compliment to my simple cake and tea party…

Yes, we do Valentines Day rather simple around here, but that doesn’t mean it still can’t look pretty!
