Gold Sleigh Makeover
Happy December 1st! Today’s project is a simple one… a gold sleigh makeover! The past few years I’ve had this cute little sleigh stashed away in our basement. It’s sat on the shelf because I knew I wanted to give it a little refresh. This year, as I was pulling out all 200 totes filled with Christmas décor, hahahahaha! :), I saw the sleigh sitting there… waiting… waiting on me, waiting on it’s chance to shine again.
I decided right then and there that this is it’s year to shine!

I love the way the house looks at night with all the lights illuminating everything. This time of year I find myself wanting to cozy up to the twinkling lights… they make me happy, thus the night time pictures! 🙂
Here’s the story of this sweet little sleigh…

I received this sleigh as a hand-me-down from my mother in law after Anthony and I were married. I loved the classic shape, but knew one day I’d want to repaint it. Enter in Maison Blanche paint! 🙂
They just recently introduced several new items to their paint line, and I took full advantage of their “Metallique” line! The champagne gold was exactly what I was looking for! It’s such a lovely, shimmery gold… swoon!

But before I could paint on the gold mettalique paint, I needed to give the sleigh a fresh new coat of paint. I chose Ivory as the base, and gave the sleigh a couple of coats…

Once the paint was dry, I added 2 coats of the Metallique paint (in Champagne)…

Here’s a good look at it with the lights off… perfect shimmer!

Once the paint was dry, I filled it with fresh tree clippings and red and gold bulbs! It makes the perfect little addition to any vignette!

Admittedly, the shimmer is a tad hard to see in photo’s, but in person it’s very sparkly…

I’m enjoying the transformation, and the ease of this quick little project!

And I’m loving the house with just the lamps on… so cozy!

Champagne was perfect, great choice. And now it’ got a brand new life ahead of it. Great save.
Merry Christmas Shayna!
Love re-purposing a family piece! Tell me about the lamp!
