Our Christmas Table

December 2, 2016

I think it’s safe to say that our home is officially decorated for Christmas… and I’m still not done. We’ve been making a few fun changes in the house and I’ve honestly had so much fun doing things a little bit different this year. I enjoy changing up our home, and we’ve been doing just that… mixing things up, adding in some new pieces and planning new and big projects for next year! My love for home is running full steam ahead!

Today, I’m sharing our Christmas table as part of the fun and inspiring “Styled & Set” holiday entertaining group of bloggers Lory from Designthusiasm started and organized! We’ve all gathered over the course of this week to bring you Christmas entertaining ideas, and today is my day to share!

If you’re joining me from Erin at Sunny Side Up, welcome! Isn’t she incredible? Her home is dreamy!

Holiday Entertaining

I reeeaalllly wanted to share our breakfast nook this time, but I’ve been waiting on a few new key pieces we ordered to arrive…. and they didn’t show in time. šŸ™ So… I went back into our dining room, which never seems to disappoint.

I still have a little bit of decorating to do on our shelves, but the center focus of the room was the table!

I brought out a few black lanterns from my collection. They were the perfect centerpiece for the table.

Paired with fresh garland (I’ll share the easy tutorial a little later), pinecones, frosted berry picks, jingle bells, candles and rattan spheres, this table came together lovely!

I used my go-to dishes at each place setting (you can shop the post below)…

I’m so happy with how the table came together. I love all the different textures and elements.

I know table decorations can feel a little bit intimidating if you don’t do them very often. They can often seem over the top at times too, making it a little bit frustrating. There’s definitely a balance between making them feel welcoming, but not overwhelming. My tip? Keep trying your hand at decorating them. After you do a few different settings, they’ll come to you much more naturally! You’ll know what you like, and certain combinations that work really well!

Next on the holiday entertaining tour, is Ann from On Sutton Place! She’s one of my very favorite bloggers, and I always love seeing her new creations!

And if you’d like even more inspiration, check out these other awesome bloggers who are sharing their spaces as well!

Instagram post 17877687346486071 We are loving the evening glow from our Christmas tree! Today on the blog, I’m sharing all the details on our tree and the different steps and layers I used to create it. It’s such a beautiful addition to our living room. šŸŽ„

Instagram post 17855703316617271 Happy Saturday! We’re installing more interior doors and trim today! What a big difference it makes! This fixer upper of ours has been making some big progress lately. šŸ˜
Throwback to my last house... but our new doors will look similar to these!

Instagram post 17856780565609483 Our new flocked Christmas tree arrived and I spent the afternoon setting it up and fluffing the branches. It’s such a tedious job, especially on a new tree, but it’s worth it!
I’ve been trying to decide how I wanted to decorate this year, and while I was ā€œfluffingā€, I think I finally decided. And now I’m excited. šŸ˜¬šŸŽ„ This lovely picture is from my last house, all decorated for Christmas. šŸ˜

Instagram post 17842824415781814 On the blog, I’m talking all about designing and purchasing our IKEA cabinets. We still have a little ways to go before we ā€œofficiallyā€ have the cabinets completely installed and finished... and then we have all the other things we need to add, like a custom vent hood, backsplash and open shelves, just to name a few, but if you’re wanting to use IKEA cabinets, today’s post will give you a good idea of what to expect!

Instagram post 17881252693452397 I’ve been updating the home tour of my old house on the blog, and I ran into this gem of a picture. This breakfast nook was such a beautiful space.

Instagram post 17859897157563074 I’ve been on the hunt for a new flocked Christmas tree since this beautiful tree is waay too tall for our 8’ ceilings... and I don’t want to look like Clark Griswold with my tree stuffed in the corner about to burst through the window. šŸ’šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Sooo... I searched high and low to find the best flocked Christmas trees. There are some seriously beautiful trees... and after getting our tape measure out, we finally picked our new tree and it should be here this week! šŸŽ„

If you’re looking for a new tree, be sure to head to the blog... I’ve organized them by size to make it easy! šŸ‘šŸ» #thewoodgraincottage #thewgc #christmasdecor #christmastree #flockedchristmastree #ontheblog
