2015 Christmas Home Tour: Part One
See part one of our 2015 Christmas home tour! I’m sharing how I decorated our kitchen and breakfast nook for the holiday season!
Yes, it’s officially Christmas time! Bring on the wonderful home tours, decorating ideas, and the joy of the Holiday season! Today I’m sharing our Christmas home tour: part one. It does seem a little bit surreal that we’re already in the last month of the year, but Christmas is one of my very favorite times of the year…
For the first part of our home tour, I am so excited to be joining , and Ashley from Cherished Bliss. They have organized an amazing Christmas home tour, and I am so honored to be included.
If you’re visiting from My Fabuless Life, welcome to our home! If not, head on over to Jen’s home to start at the beginning of the Day 2 tours. We have a ton in store for you! Just follow the links from one person to the next.
For this part of our Christmas home tour, I thought I would feature our breakfast nook, kitchen and parts of our living room. Stay tuned for part two, which will include the rest of the living room, the dining room, and our entryway. Part three will cover the front porch/ exterior of our home!
If you’re a regular reader, you may notice a few new additions to our home… I’ll be sharing the details on them a bit later. 🙂
Let’s start the tour, shall we?
2015 Christmas Home Tour: Part One
Our kitchen is easily the hub of our home….
I love to cook and bake, so a huge portion of my day is spent in here…
I kept the decor pretty simple, just spreading little bits of greenery here and there. And don’t worry, the swag over the stove is hung on a hook and I remove it before I start cooking. It’s an extra step, but I love how the greenery gives the kitchen a happy Christmas vibe…
I used the same wreath I made a few years ago from garland. It’s held up great, and I love the fluffy full texture it adds to our cabinets…
I finished the kitchen by spreading around some fresh greenery from our Christmas tree. We always have to trim off a few lower branches, and I make sure to use them around the house…
I have been loving the accents of copper, and I used them as my accessory this year. Swoon.
I get asked a lot about our kitchen island, you can find out the details here.
On the other side of kitchen, we have this shelving unit (from Hobby Lobby several years ago), and I love adding fresh seasonal touches. I just recently found that ginormous bell at an antique store. It’s quirky and big, and I kind of love it. It also fit in with my “copper” theme this year, as well as having a subtle whimsy touch that came naturally as I started decorating…
Connected to the kitchen, is our breakfast nook. This room was the first in the house to start receiving a big makeover. We’ve slowly been adding to it here and there, and our most recent addition is the lights that flank each side of the window…
I’ll be sharing the tutorial on how we installed them a little bit later, but whoa… I am completely, utterly, entirely, overwhelmingly in. LOVE.
They finished the room… and I’m not exaggerating when I say that. As soon as they were up, I felt like our breakfast nook finally came together. Joy. Just pure joy.
And speaking of being joyful… that’s exactly how I feel when I look at our Christmas trees this year. I went to a local tree farm and picked them out. Swoon, and double swoon. Probably a triple swoon in there too…
I can honestly say, I had absolutely zero plans on how I wanted to decorate our trees this year. I started on the breakfast nook tree first, and just went with it as I made it up. It’s quirky, but not weird, fun, but subtlety serious, and different than anything I’ve ever done. And I love it.
I think I spent $9 total on the new decor (pendant flag banners from Target dollar spot!), the rest was from my stash of collected ornaments. Some are from my grandma, some from my mother in law, and some I bought at grocery stores, etc. over the last few years. I even added Anthony and I’s first Christmas ornament we bought on our honeymoon six years ago….
This tree makes my heart happy….
And so does the bench full of pillows! The Silent Night pillow is from our online shop a few years ago…
I stand in the kitchen just staring at it. And the lights. 🙂
From the breakfast nook, you can see a peek of the Christmas tree in our living room…
I love the way that tree came together too. Here’s a peek for you….
I’ll be sharing more of that section of the house in part two… 🙂
In the mean time, I will leave you with a few more images of the breakfast nook and kitchen…
Alrighty, that’s all for part one! Stay tuned for part two next week!
The next stop on our Cherished Christmas Home Tour, is my wonderful friend Shannon from Fox Hollow Cottage…
I have the privilege of calling her one of my dear friends. I am so grateful for her, and cannot wait to see her home decorated for Christmas!
I hope you enjoyed part one of our Christmas home tour! 🙂
