Fixer Upper Update: Exterior

I know… I know… The last time I shared an update on the fixer upper was October. My bad. Life happened and before we knew it the weather changed and we couldn’t really finish the last few things we needed to do, which was the exterior. And combine that with prepping for The Vintage Whites Market in Colorado, and our little house had to take a back seat for awhile.

Last time I shared an update, we had finished installing all the cabinet hardware. And wow, what a difference that made! It’s the jewelry that makes it all shine.

Lately though, the weather has been lovely and we have been full steam ahead in getting the last few things finished with the house. And that, my friends is the exterior. We’re still not quite finished with everything yet, but as of next week everything should be finished and our little house will be put on the market!

We were able to get the majority of the exterior painted last fall, but there were a few things we didn’t get to. Painting the deck and doors were one of them. The doors are basically done, & new knobs installed, but the deck is still in the works.

Our painter was able to get started this past weekend, and all the railing has been painted. I must say, I aboslutely love the color! I chose Van Buren Brown by Benjamin Moore. I had it mixed in Ace Royal porch and patio exterior paint. I love that stuff, and chose to go with it because I just used it on the floor in our loft. I’ll share how I did that soon, but in the mean time, this back deck is totally turning into my vision…

He basically has the back door finished too. He just needs to clean the glass and install the new door knob. The black is Onyx by Benjamin Moore. It’s absolutely lovely paired with the deck color.

And the front of the house is looking just as pretty…

The grass is coming back beautifully, and that is really exciting! Our handy man is going to get it all spiffed up, but I’m hoping the grass starts filling in. It looks very promising!

And having the front door painted is very exciting! It completely changed the front curb appeal.

There’s still a few little touch ups to do, but it’s basically finished…

It’s hard to tell because of the lighting and how bright the pictures are, but the house is painted with a very light gray, Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore. The trim is painted with Super White by Benjamin Moore. I almost lost sleep over the exterior colors. The house has a metal roof in a light sky blue color. It’s definitely not something I would have picked, but there was nothing wrong with it and it didn’t make sense to replace it just because of the color. Instead, I spent weeks obsessing over paint colors. This color scheme goes beautifully with it, and the roof is no longer the first thing you see! Mission accomplished!

And as far as the inside goes, I don’t think I ever got around to sharing the carpet for the bedrooms…

All of the bathroom towel bars and hooks have been installed too…

This little house is shining, and there’s only one big thing the house is missing, besides cleaning…

Appliances!

But as of this week, that’s not going to be the case. I can’t wait to see the kitchen all finished. The appliances will really make it all gleam.

As of right now, we should be all set to list the house next week. I’ll be sure to share a final post once the house is clean and free of the misc. tools that are laying around. In the final revel post, I’ll share all our sources too, so stay tuned!

And of course, thank you so much for your patience in waiting for this post. Life has been a bit hectic lately and so many things are growing and blooming with our business. I have some very exciting things to share coming up, so stay tuned! 😀
