Milk Stool Makeover
I think I may have mentioned before that I really, really love a good stool. There’s just something about them. And heaven knows I’ve done my fair share of makeovers on a stool or two. This girl can’t resist them.
And today’s makeover fits into that same category…
Here’s what she looked like when I started. Very cute, but a little roughed up…
Easy enough to fix though, I just turned her over and added a couple coats of paint…
For this makeover, I used Mushroom by Maison Blanche. I seriously love this color. It’s the perfect creamy/ gray/ taupe. Such a fabulous color and you will definitely see more projects with me using it!
Once the paint dried, and I added a second coat to the entire stool, I grabbed a medium grit sanding block and started distressing the areas that would naturally get chipped…
With the sanding done, I wiped it down and applied a coat of clear wax for protection…
The wax really brings out the color in the paint, and added a very subtle sheen to the stool. I loved the color even more after it was waxed. 😀
Here’s a few beauty shots…
I’m telling you, this neutral paint color is perfect on so many things…
And the dark brown peeking through from the distressing? Perfection!
I may already have another piece of furniture just waiting for it’s time to shine… and the mushroom paint! I can’t wait!
In the meantime though, here are a few other ladies sharing their makeover’s!

Happy Painting!
P.S. Don’t forget to check out my Joss & Main Sale going on now. I had so much fun picking out items that I hope you’ll love! 😀
P.S.S.- I received product and/or compensation for reviewing Maison Blanche Paint Company products. However, all opinions about their paint, finishing products and this lovely mushroom stool are my own! For my full disclosure policy, click here.
So how long before you get a cow for milking to go with all your little stools?
Love it! What cute little stool, funny, I am drawn to them too!

That is a cute little stool and the perfect colour. I especially like it beside that beautiful grainsack wing chair.
Shayna, the stool is adorable. I love that corner with the chair, end table, and stool. Looks so inviting!! I saw you picture on a Joss & Main ad and I was so surprised as I thought, hey, that’s Shayna and I know her!! Love your blog and touring your home. Thanks for sharing!!
I love that table did you make it? I love the beauty shots.
Hi Shayna ~
I love your little stool. I am looking for one myself. I’ll have to take a trip to my sisters and see what I can find in the antique shops by her.
Congratulations on being part of the “Joss & Main” sale and home tour.
How exciting for you…
Have a wonderful week.

Great makeover on the stool. I love stools and have a thing for benches as well. They are addicting to me and are similar to magnets. I really like the chair beside the stool, is the covering a grain sack material?
By the way….Congratulations on the Joss & Main tour.
I made over a stool just like that … It gets used all the time when my niece and nephews are over . Just the right height to use when they need to stand at the island. I love a good stool too and yours looks awesome !
Lovely redo! Love all your pictures! That Chair! 🙂
I find it very hard to pass up a stool whenever I come across one at the thrift store. Most of them come home with me. Your’t turned out very pretty. I have not used that type of paint yet myself but I think I may have to fix that problem very soon.! LOL
