Black Sofa Table Makeover
I’ve had so much on my to do list lately, that I’ve felt like I’ve been spinning. And not necessarily in a good way. More like the kind of spinning that leads to zero progress on anything. It’s not my favorite feeling in the world.
And in the midst of not knowing what I was doing, I decided I knew exactly what I needed… to paint something. The painting can totally be therapeutic for me. I was craving it… and ended up with this pretty little black sofa table makeover…
I picked this little lady up at a thrift store, and couldn’t get past the shape of her legs. Clearly she’s a lady.
She was in remarkable shape, but problem was, I just couldn’t get past the tiger stripe looking stain. It wasn’t doing it for me.
But, since one of my favorite paint combinations in the history of ever is black with dark wood peeking out from underneath, I knew she was going to look like a million bucks once she had on a new dress.
So, I painted on two coats of Wrought Iron by Maison Blanche…
And once the paint was dry, I took some medium grit sandpaper and went over all the edges to give it a little bit of distress and to have the dark wood peak out from the black…
After a good vacuuming, I wiped it down with a damp cloth, then applied a coat of clear wax…
With that, she was done and ready to stage!
For now it’s in the house, but we really don’t have a great spot for it. And as much as I’d like to keep it, it makes our living room walkway a bit too tight. I’ll be bringing it with me to The Vintage Whites Market in Utah.
Those legs, I love the shape of them! And I love the wood peeking out from underneath the black paint. It’s such a classic combination, and it doesn’t get old.
I’ve been collecting some great stuff lately, so I can’t wait to share more about it soon! And the online shop is definitely making progress. I’ll be sharing another “behind the scenes” peek soon too!
Looks really nice! Love the color choice, perfect!
I love your table! It looks great!
Too bad it does not totally fit in your home, as it looks just awesome right there. Love the paint you chose and the staging is perfect, too.
It’s a wonder that you have a moment to spare…to do such wonderful things like your Lady Table – how aptly named and so beautifully regaled – you are surely proud of this project -thanks for sharing it!
Cute table. Love the legs and the color!
Looks cute! Good job! Haven’t seen anything regarding your little house you have been redoing for quite a while, just wondering how it’s coming along?
It’s like a Little Black Dress for a lady with great legs. Is it a matte like finish?
Just love it. Now all she needs are pearls. Or perhaps diamonds
Hi Shayna –
I know how you feel, spinning out of control. I just redesigned my blog from Tumblr to WordPress.
It took me 2 weeks to finally have it where I want it. This is spending at lease 6 hrs a day on it.
But it is so worth it – I love how it came out.
After the first week of 6+ hrs a day – I had to do something I was very familiar with too, I started to prepare meals for a few day. It just made me feel so good to be able to do something I love to do and was so familiar with.
Your table is beautiful –
Good luck with everything.
Have a wonderful day
