New Front Porch Lantern Light
Little by little, we’re updating all of our semi builder grade lighting around the house. When we built our home, almost three years ago (how can that be?), we definitely had to stick to our budget. And needless to say, we didn’t have a huge amount of money for lighting. Other things like real hardwood flooring, nicer cabinets and stucco siding were much more important to us, so we skimped on lighting. It’s also one of the easier things to upgrade as time and our styles change.
After our living room light switcheroo, the next light I couldn’t wait to swap out was our front porch light. It’s always seemed waay too small for the door and as time moved on, it was something that I couldn’t see past.
Here’s the new front porch lantern light, large and beautiful and a much better size for our door…
After looking high and low at lanterns, I ended up buying this one from Amazon. I am so completely thrilled with it! But before I ordered it, and because it was considerably larger than our previous light, I made sure to tape off the size of the light on our stacked rock. Here’s the picture I shared on Instagram:
I surprised Anthony by having one of my electrician friends hang it up… Needless to say he’s a bit preoccupied with farming and work at the moment and I was having heart palpitations just from seeing it sit in the box. Must. Get. It. Installed. So really, it might have been for both of us! 😉
It’s just what our entryway was missing…
And just like lighting can, it completely changed the look and feel of our entry…
It’s got the prettiest seeded glass…
I’ve also switched up a few other things on our front porch, like the paint on our front door and a new door knob. I’ll be sharing the details on all of it really soon.
Here’s a little before and after comparison that really shows the difference between the two lights…
This was taken right after we moved in…
And now:
That’s a pretty big difference! And now I’m basically itching to start switching out all of our other exterior lights too. We have 5 more that’ll need swapped… I better start saving now! 😀
I’ll take your old one! 🙂
I love the seed glass. Very beautiful.
So pretty! It’s a wonderful addition to your home Shayna!!
Does it cast light that is diffused because of the seeded light?
i love the light and the new door paint color. where did you get the olive bucket and if you don’t mind how much was it?
It looks lovely and perfect with the seeded glass. The new door colour and lockset look great too.
