Navy Blue Sideboard
Happy Friday! I’m so excited to be sharing a new (to me) chalk based/ no-prep paint! When Maison Blanche Paint Company contacted me about trying out their paint and finishing products, I was all for it. Paint is one of the quickest and easiest ways to instantly update and I couldn’t wait to give their paint a try. And the best part? I was challenged to use one of their specific colors, Navy.
I’m definitely a neutral girl, but if there were ever two colors that I’m generally always drawn to, they’re red and navy. And this navy? Well it’s just right!
Say hello to my new navy blue sideboard…
Here’s what I started with, a mellow yellow. I actually took it out of one of the closets at the fixer upper…
I couldn’t wait to get started…
Once I brought it inside, I wiped it down to remove any dirt, then gave it the first coat…
After the first coat dried, I added the second coat, which basically provided full coverage…
Other than touching up a few little spots, the sideboard was ready to dry completely. With the paint dry, I applied a coat of Maison Blanche’s clear antiquing wax.
It really darkened the paint…
With everything waxed, it was ready to take pictures!
I couldn’t help but think it looked like the perfect piece for books, so I created a little reading corner, complete with plenty of reading material. 😀
I’m absolutely digging the color of this navy. It’s deep, dark and rich.
And not only do I love the color on this little sideboard, but I love its size and possibilities…
I already have a new home picked out, and it’s definitely going to help out with some organizing… That right there, is called a double bonus.

I agree, it is the best navy color I have seen, I love it. And now you can read about all the other colors in your pretty reading nook.
Ok, that’s it…I’m moving in to Wood Grain Cottage! Love everything you do!

I really like navy and that is a gorgeous colour of paint. Lucky you to get to try it out. Thanks for sharing.
Love it! I’m wondering what the wax does other than make it darker, does it seal it? Do you still need a protective coat? Thanks in advance. Can’t wait to try the paint!
Hi Diane! THANK YOU so much for the comment! Yes, the wax is a protectant for the paint. If the wax isn’t applied, the paint could scratch easily. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions! 😀
Love it! I’m a neutral girl too, so Navy was a bit of a challenge for me. But, I have to say that I really love the color and may use it more around the house! Your reading corner is perfect!!!
It is a great color. I love how you have it styled, very cool!
Loving the navy! Great job as always:)
Hey I really love the metal O that you have standing on the sideboard, where did you get it from? I’ve been looking for some sort of marquee letters for a while, and I really like that yours is just a plain metal.
Hi Ashley! I bought our big metal “O” at Hobby Lobby! I love it! 😀
I just love it….This is becoming my favorite color. I have searched high and low for the PERFECT navy and I think this is it! Great job as always! BEAUTIFUL!

As I do with every project you share.. I love it. What a great find. It’s so chunky and full of possibility. That Navy looks fan-tastic with your neutrals. It adds a richness and depth to your decor.

I’m totally convinced I need to have a piece of navy furniture now. You’re right, this piece is perfect for a little reading nook.
It might even look better slightly distressed. 🙂
What a great bonus getting this for free with the fixer upper! Love the navy paint! It makes for a very versital piece. Love all your projects!
I am learning from you a lot , everything I do know I try to find in NC , is difficult to find old things in the flea market and the price is very, very high, I like Craigslist , but I have to go slow, when you are disabled you are limited to many things, My husband help me a lot , he is my Angel, I am trying to finish the house but take time and money.I love old things , I learn from you , thanks
Where did you get the paint? I have never seen this brand.
