Grain Sack Pillows

A few weekends ago one of my best friends and I went to Salt Lake City, Utah to The Vintage Whites Market. Oh. My. Goodness.

The Vintage Whites Market

To sum up the trip, I was basically like a kid in a candy store. It was a two story building packed full of amazingness. I almost didn’t think I was going to be able to contain my excitement. Almost.

But then… I saw these grain sacks…

One is an actual grain sack, and the other was fabric that I bought by the yard. I’m pretty sure it’s a reproduction of some sort, but that doesn’t change how I feel about it.

I couldn’t wait to make grain sack pillows for the breakfast nook, and I shared a sneak peek on Instagram:

My love runs deep…

They’re exactly what this room had been missing…Grain Sack Pillows by The Wood Grain Cottage

I love everything about them… the red stripes, the texture… they’re just yummy!

And now my obsession for all things grain sack has officially begun… I think I might be in trouble…

I did grab a few other things while I was at the market. I picked up some vintage linen napkins, they’re just gorgeous, and some vintage pillow cases for our bedroom with the prettiest lace trim. I’ll be sharing more about those a little later.

  2. Hi Shayna, I also love grain sacks and have a very small collection. The pillows turned out very well and are a nice touch to your breakfast nook.

    Pleasure to browse around.

  9. The pillows are lovely and look great on your built in, Shayna. I also love the look of grain sacks but have not found any that I can afford yet. I do have a linen tea toweling runner that has a grain sack look and a pillow and chair I painted with a faux grai nsack stripe.

    • THANK YOU so very much, Elizabeth! I know how you feel, grain sacks can be expensive. I didn’t think these were too bad, so I jumped on them! :-D

  10. Perfection! Don’t you just love grain sack pillows? I made my own too a while ago (no sew—I stuffed pillows in the sacks and made bows for the tops). I need a sewing machine… the things I could do!

    • THANK YOU so very much, Jenna! I’m so in love with grain sack pillows… or grain sack anything! :-D
If you get a sewing machine… watch out world! :-D

Where did you find the fabric? I have been looking for reproduction fabric with no luck.
