Pledge of Allegiance Tea Towel
I love Red, White and Blue! It’s a wonderful combination— and something to be so very proud of!
This year, I’ve joined 110 (yes you read that right, 110) other bloggers to celebrate our wonderful country with three cheers for the Red, White and Blue! We’re each sharing a project, which you will see below!
And because there’s something so powerful about our Pledge of Allegiance, this year I decided to make a Pledge of Allegiance Tea Towel. Now, before we start, I’m absolutely NOT saying that this idea is to be used as a towel to wipe down the kitchen after a messy meal. That’s absolutely not true. I’m using this beauty as decoration, and I could even see myself framing it!
Here’s how I made it… I started with my Silhouette. I cut out the words on freezer paper…
Then I grabbed my tea towel with the lovely red stripes…
I laid it all out…
Then ironed on the freezer paper…
I mixed two parts black paint to one part fabric medium (for washing, just in case)…
Mixed it together well, then started stamping it over the words…
Once I had it all covered….
I carefully started pulling up the freezer paper…
And then, I started pulling up all the letter insets…
There were a bunch!
Once the paint was dry, it was ready to display!
I absolutely LOVE how it turned out…
And I can absolutely see myself framing it…
I love the red stripes on the tea towel, it fits perfectly…
I just love, love, love it!
Now, here are the other 109 ideas! Awesome!
And you can also see them all on the group pinterest board! Now how’s that for inspiration? 😀
Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue!
P.S. A big THANK YOU to Abbey from The Cards We Drew for organizing this! 😀
LOVE this idea! I a so going to make this!!! What a fun process too!
Yep, another creation you made that I love! I’m going to make this for my sisters. I found that when I need to make something that needs to stick and not move I use shelf lining paper. It works beautifully and costs $1 for a big long roll in the Dollar Tree 🙂 Now to find some really cute Tea Towels! Thanks so much for posting! 😀
This is a GREAT idea for the silhouette have have just sitting there! I didn’t even know you could cut freezer paper. Would you mind sharing your settings?
THANK YOU so much! The Silhouette cuts freezer paper beautifully! In the design software, I set it to the smooth heat transfer material. I hope that helps! 😀
Your creation is fabulous!!
This is such a neat idea! I would’ve never thought of stenciling this on a tea towel. You’re so creative. I would love it if you linked this up to my Motivate Me Monday linky party!
Clever, patriotic and fabulous! I will try this and credit you for inspiration if I post the project on my blog. Love your site!
Where did you find the cute towels?
Thanks!
Hi there! 😀 I bought the towels at our local craft/ home store. Sorry that’s not more helpful…
