Fruit Crate Herb Garden
There’s just something magical about summer time… from nights spent around the fire pit roasting marshmallows, to all the fresh food and awesome activities, summer is easily one of my favorite times of the year. And even though summer means a really busy time for us farmers, we all love the warm weather and family gatherings, especially when they involve the fire pit… We love those peaceful country nights!
And because summer is such a fun season {and a reason to celebrate}, I’m joining an awesome group of bloggers in a summer celebration! Happy days!
And since I absolutely love everything about herbs, I thought it would be fun to share a very easy fruit crate herb garden…
Here’s how I put it all together…
I started with the fruit crate, which I found at an estate sale a while back for $1.00. I absolutely couldn’t pass it up, especially since it had that big ‘ol stamp right on the front. Then, I added in the four clay pots. They fit perfectly…
I grabbed my herbs and potting soil and got busy…
But I thought it looked a little basic…
So I grabbed four silver plated spoons, also from an estate sale, and my metal punch set…
And pounded out the names of each plant…
I used a sharpie to make the letters a little bit more noticeable…
Then I wrapped the spoon handles with black and white bakers twine and stuck them into the pot… It’s such a simple project…
But it’s full of yummy stuff… like Basil, which I can’t get enough of..
And there’s Dill…
And mint…
And Cilantro…
I can’t wait to watch these plants grow over the summer, and I’m even more excited about using them! So much so, that I planted a whole bunch more of them in a different place! I have a feeling we’re going to be using them a lot this summer! Yummy!
And it wouldn’t be a true summer celebration without all of these other amazing projects and ideas to inspire!
SO CUTE!!!! Love it! I adore all those herbs but the basil and cilantro I could eat all day!
