Just Keepin’ It Real
My house is a mess. And I wish I were kidding about that.
Not only are we in the process of re-doing the powder bathroom, but I have peaches coming out of my ears. I spent all evening canning peach jam.
Our powder bathroom currently looks like this:
The vanity is in the garage getting ready for a makeover…. and everything else is now taking up residence in the dining room.
And our attached garage is full of tools and planking and beadboard… all just waiting to be installed….
And then last night I started canning peach jam. My kitchen looked like this:
I couldn’t have found an extra space on my countertop if I wanted too…
Just keepin’ it real.
But at least I woke up to these sealed beauties:
I still have a lot more to do, but today I’m off to visit my papa in the hospital. He’s having hip replacement surgery.
Have a terrific weekend… I’m hoping to get my house back in order and to have a powder bathroom that isn’t a complete construction zone.
We’ll see!
That is a lot of peaches! Shayna…your dad will do great. My (once marathon runner) hubby had hip surgery last year and after the initial getting back up and moving around period he felt better than ever. Looking forward to the finished bathroom pictures.
Peaches are everywhere I look… Ah! I can’t wait to get them done! 🙂
I’m so very hopeful for my grandpa! He’s really excited about the surgery… I’m off to see him now! Thanks for the sunshine! 🙂

Thank you for keeping it real! As much as I enjoy all the inspiration and information provided by so many talented bloggers, sometime I think, it is always so perfect. Too perfect! My “life” rarely looks that perfect, ever and it is hard not to let that get to you. So it does my head and heart good to see the messes, the failed attempts (don’t we all learn the most from those anyway?) and the real life struggles we all go through daily to keep it all together.
My thoughts and prayers for your grandpa, though I am sure he will be better than fine. I am celebrating the third anniversary of having my second one. I had both hips replaced, one at a time, in 2010, it was a long year. But not as long as the year leading up to it. I can tell you now that it gave me my life back! Having mobility, much less without pain, is not to be taken for granted. I am still grateful every day that they could fix me. Or at least that part! lol
Take care and take it all in stride!

Awe- Beth! THANK YOU so very, very much for the super sweet comment! I completely understand what you mean about everything being “too perfect”. We are so far from that. All of us.
We really live in our home… and we make plenty of messes! 😉
Also- THANK YOU so much for the encouragement & prayers for my papa. I’m so happy you shared your personal experience with the hip replacement. He has needed to do this for years, so I can’t help but be excited for him and his desire to move without the pain he’s been under for soo long!
Hugs to you!

We just opened our last jar of peach jam I had made two summers ago. There is nothing like home preserved jams. I need to hit the same little peach farm and get a lug to make up, I love my taste of summer on a cold winter day, slathered of fresh, hot buttermilk biscuits. I have a ton of strawberries tucked in my freezer from my humble little patch also, I did not have time to make them into jam when I picked them. I find canning to be so relaxing and enjoyable. Best wishes for you Grandpa, he will feel so much better when it is all done that he will wonder why he waited. At least that is what my Dad said when he had his done. 🙂
THANK YOU, Pamela! You’re right, there is nothing better than homemade jams… Yummy! We love them in the winder and that’s when all the hard work truly pays off! 🙂
Papa is going great… I can’t wait to see him back up and going! 🙂
