Fixer Upper Sources
Thank you all so very much for your sweet comments on our Fixer Upper reveal. This house was a labor of love, and I’m so proud with how beautiful it turned out. My main goal for the house, was to inject as much clean, fresh, and classic design decisions as I could for it to flow with the original floor plan, and character. Even though it didn’t look like much before we started, it had so much character and I really wanted to preserve that feeling. It was, and still is, special.
Today, I wanted to share the sources of everything in the house. This was a complete gut, so everything you see has been touched and changed in some way.
Let’s start with the paint colors, which I kept pretty basic.
Interior Walls: Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore in Satin
Plank Wall in Kitchen: Super White by Benjamin More in Semi- Gloss. This wall was originally primed with oil based kilz to block any knots in the wood planks

I hope that helps! If there’s anything I’ve left out, let me know and I’ll include it. 😀
Very, very nice!! I love how well you coordinated all your colors/finishes! I wonder though, when I click on the Home Depot link for the bathroom floor tile in the hall bathroom, the tile on the website looks different than what you used. I am building a new home and I’ve been looking for that exact tile! Can you tell me what the name of it should be? Thanks so much!
Thank you so much, Becky. I have corrected the link, so it shows the correct tile we used. Happy building! 🙂
You did such a awesome job!
That’s a nice source list! I think the links to the floor tile for the guest bath and the shower floor for the master are wrong though. They link to a hex tile without the little squares in between. I have some identical to yours from Lowes, though. Good work!
Thank you, Amanda! I corrected it.
Very pretty!!
It looks great!!! Beautiful job!
The house looks amazing. What a great job!
Love all your choices!
Thanks for all the sources and links…extremely helpful!
Shayna,
You did a beautiful job. Questions, not about the products, but the process.
Is this your first fix it upper/flip? You really gutted it. Did you do much of the work yourselves or contract it out? You carried costs on this over the winter, without asking you to reveal too much, are you still going to be able to make a profit?
I am asking these questions, not to be nosy about the profit on the property, but because I have thought of doing this (and actually saw a condo to do this with) but worried about the things I mentioned. So, I guess I am wondering how you made some of the decisions you did. You used such great materials and the quality really shows. I hope this is a worthwhile venture for your family!`
Thank you so much, Andrea! For our flip, we did completely gut the house. I was the general contractor, but used several people to finish the house, based on their specific skills. Meaning, we had an electrician, plumber, tile guy, carpet installer, etc., and general contractor for the demo and interior changes. We did carry the costs of the house over the winter, and will still have a big profit for our hard work. It does help to pay cash. I’m planning to write a post on my experience, things I would change, things I wouldn’t do, and to share several of my decisions, and why I made them. Stay tuned! In the mean time, good luck with your decision! Flipping a house is a lot of work, but so much fun to do! 😀
Thanks! Good luck finding a new owner for this gorgeous all but new house!
Thank you for all the source information, Shayna. Have a wonderful weekend, Ardith
This house is absolutely stunning! What an awesome job you did!
Hi. Looks great! I noticed some of your door hinges are still gold. Super easy to fix by spray painting with rustoleum spray paint in oil rubbed bronze. I did mine years ago and they still look great.
Where did you get the barn door trim for the doors? Is that a kit or was that custom?
What color is the wall and trim paint color?
What color and brand of tile grout did you use for both showers? (I’m assuming it is a true white subway tile?) The link is no longer working, and I need to decide on what color grout to use today for my new bathtub / shower area? Thanks so much!
