I'm in the middle of a bunch of projects. I'm here, I'm there... I'm everywhere! But in the mean time, I decided I needed to sew a few easy pillows. Pillows make everything else in the day so much better. I mean, there almost isn't anything better than having a bunch of pillows to brighten your day. Almost. And as much as I love pillows, I love the easy to make pillows even more. That's where these DIY tea towel pillows were born. Yes, right from the tea towel itself. No need to worry about cutting, having enough fabric, or even sewing a seam. Even though I used my sewing machine, this could easily be done with some sewing tape. Worry free. :) Here's how I made them... Please ...

DIY White Fluffy Blanket
Perhaps one of the things I love most about Christmas and the Holiday season, is the cozy and relaxed atmosphere that it brings. I absolutely love snuggling up on the couch, watching Christmas movies, sipping hot cocoa, all while sitting beside a lit up tree. I love, love, love that. Lately, I've been spending quite a bit of time in our local fabric store, more on that later, but while I was in there, I spotted some lovely white faux fur. It looked so cozy, so I knew I had to touch it. Well, one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I came home with 3 yards of that cozy fabric. And today, with it being $30 Thursday, I knew it would be the perfect project to share! In case you're ...
Thanksgiving Black & White Pillow
Can you believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner? I guess time flies when we're having fun, right? :-D As much as I love, love, love Thanksgiving, it's been hard for me not to skip right to Christmas. We won't be hosting family, so I've been transitioning things over to Christmas. But still, I've been adding a few small touches that really stop and make me think about what Thanksgiving is all about. It's easy to forget how blessed we are. There's always something better to have, items to upgrade and new things to add to the never ending wishlist. I know I'm guilty of it. But Thanksgiving always puts things into perspective for me. I am blessed. So, today I'm sharing our ...
DIY United States Pillow
Happy July 1st! In just a few short days, we're all going to be celebrating the 4th of July! While it seems totally crazy that we're now in July, I'm really looking forward to the 4th! Remember a while back when I told you about your chance to win a $310 Target Gift Card? And that I've joined up with 30 other awesome bloggers to tackle the challenge of creating a patriotic project or recipe without using the traditional red, white and blue color scheme? Well, with that in mind, today I'm sharing my DIY United States Pillow, which I shared a sneak peek of during our summer home tour! Here's how I made it! I started with my two fabrics, a dark gray linen and a cream ...
Grain Sack Pillows
A few weekends ago one of my best friends and I went to Salt Lake City, Utah to The Vintage Whites Market. Oh. My. Goodness. To sum up the trip, I was basically like a kid in a candy store. It was a two story building packed full of amazingness. I almost didn't think I was going to be able to contain my excitement. Almost. But then... I saw these grain sacks... One is an actual grain sack, and the other was fabric that I bought by the yard. I'm pretty sure it's a reproduction of some sort, but that doesn't change how I feel about it. I couldn't wait to make grain sack pillows for the breakfast nook, and I shared a sneak peek on Instagram: My love runs ...
Easy DIY Ruffled Bed Skirt
Slowly, project by project, our master bedroom is making small strides. Getting this room in shape is on my project goal list for the year and it's one room that really needs it. I have no idea why it seems to "collect" the miscellaneous decor items, but it does. And every time it collects a bit more, I make it my mission to fix it. Today, I'm sharing an easy DIY ruffled bed skirt. It's made me so excited to keep moving forward with the our bedroom. I have so many ideas and plans for the room and I can't wait to tell you more about them. In the mean time, I am positively thrilled with this easy project! Here's how I made it, and the supplies I used: Please note: Some of ...
DIY Home Sweet Home Pillow
I don't know about you, but I'm reallly ready for spring. I've been feeling a little cooped up, so I decided to make a new pillow to brighten my spirits. Contrary to what Anthony may think, I'm not sure I can ever have enough pillows. This DIY Home Sweet Home Pillow, well it's one of my very favorites, just like my DIY rosette pillow. I know sewing a pillow cover can seem a bit intimidating, but if you can sew a straight line, you can make a pillow cover. Truth be told, you could probably hot glue instead of sewing, but I find that each time I sew, I get better, and that keeps me motivated. Here's how I made the pillow: Please note: Some of the links in this post ...
DIY Rosette Pillow
I've been so excited to start Christmas decorating! It's completely underway at The WGC and I couldn't be happier bringing out the Christmas totes! Today, I couldn't help but share one of my Christmas projects for the year, a DIY rosette pillow! You all know that I'm a neutral girl, I just can't help it, and that I love stripes. This pillow combines a few of my favorite things... Here's how you make it: I started with two of my favorite fabrics... Then, I determined the size of my pillow and folded the fabric on top of itself with the wrong side out... I lined up all the sides and sewed a straight seem on each side... But left an open section at the ...
Front Porch Welcome Flag
Since we built our home, I've been trying to spruce up our curb appeal and front porch. We started with a completely blank slate and lots of rocks. We're still working on the yard, and I'm sure that we'll be working on it for years to come, but sprucing up the front porch always makes me feel like I've accomplished something big for our curb appeal. Typically with each change in seasons, I try and give our porch a little makeover and move things around. I'm still working on it for this spring/ summer {the wind is posing quite a challenge!}, but this lovely welcome flag brings me one step closer! It's such a pleasure to see when walking up to our house! Here's how I made ...
How To: Recover an Ironing Board
I don't know how you feel, but I was beyond tired of the generic cover that came on my ironing board. For one, it didn't have elastic to hold it onto the frame and I was constantly readjusting it and the foam beneath it. Second, it was a dark blue and showed everything. It was time for a new one. I was tired of complaining about it... to myself! Anthony would have used his "selective hearing" feature and wouldn't have listened anyway! I guess I kept putting it off because I thought it was going to be hard. That, and I couldn't find any fabric that I liked. One day I was walking through Walmart and I noticed that they had an entire section of $1-$3 / yard fabric. In that ...
Linen Lined Rope Basket
Baskets. I like baskets. But, I like them even better when they cost mere dollars rather than big dollar bills. You know what I'm sayin'? When I ran across these baskets in a Ballard Designs magazine, I instantly fell in love. They're entirely versatile and I loved everything about them, especially the lining. I made it my mission to figure out how to do a re-make. And I must admit, I'm absolutely loving my version! To give it a little different look, I gave mine stripes, which I love, love, love! Here's how I made it: Please note: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which allows us to make a small commission from your purchase, but your ...
Grain Sack Inspired Mini Burlap Pouch
A while back, I had this idea of a small burlap pouch with a grain sack inspired logo. I've made this project so many times in my head, that it feels good to actually have it done. And I must say, it turned out just like I imagined! Here's how this little beauty came to life: First, I started with a piece of burlap & scissors. Then I cut a piece that would be the total length of the front and back of the pouch: I folded it in half, length ways, and grabbed some jute twine: Then I sewed each side, leaving the top and bottom open: Since this is burlap and it has a thicker and wider weave, I changed my stitch length to make it a little ...
Breakfast Nook Pillows
I've been one busy lady. Between trying to reupholster my first wingback chair (more on that later...), making pillow covers for the breakfast nook and working on other projects, my spare time has been limited to ZERO! But I am totally not complaining! Love this life! :) My house does need cleaned though... thank goodness it's Friday! I can't show you the whole breakfast nook yet, that would be wrong, but here's a little sneak peak of all those pillow covers I've been sewing. I've been using the same type of sewing method as this pillow, and they turned out great! They make me happy! And seriously, sewing pillow covers is ridiculously easy. I can just make new ones ...
Easy Ruffle Table Runner
Happy Monday! Since we had quite the cold and snowy weather on Saturday, I took full advantage of it and stayed inside! I've really been wanting a table runner for the breakfast nook. If you follow me on facebook, you probably saw that I posted one I loved. But I couldn't make myself spend $30 on a table runner. Not when I knew I had a whole heap of lovely linen fabric just waiting to be used. Lately, I've been all about ruffles. They add a softness that can't be beat. I'm planning on doing a few darker accessories in the room, so I like the way ruffles will play with them. Darling, right? Here's how I made it: I happened to have a few remnant pieces of linen, but ...
Easy Double Sided Pillow
Living in a small town can sometimes create a challenge for shopping. Luckily, we have a really nice craft store that eases my frustration from time to time. And that craft store just happens to have a great selection of fabric. I always check the remnant bin when I'm there. It's a great way to score fabric at a really decent price. The only problem is, the fabric pieces aren't overly large, which can really limit the type of projects they can be used for. The other day I found a darling piece of fabric. It was only a $1.00 and I loved the pattern the second I saw it. I knew that I wouldn't be able to do too much with it since it wasn't very big, but it was big enough to create a ...

Painted Sewing Machine Table
Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to know how to sew. I was in a 4-H sewing group until middle school, but by then I was too caught up in sports and raising pigs and steers for the 4-H market, that sewing took a seat on the back burner. Honestly, I've always felt as if I am a little out of place for my generation. I think that I would have fit better in the 1950's or 1970's. Seriously. Being a housewife has always been a dream of mine. No place has even been better than being at home. Sewing fits right into that. I haven't ever been one to sew my own clothes, but curtains, tea towels and pillows are right up my alley. After my husband and I got married, my grandma called and ...
Breakfast Nook Curtains
Here I am, finally revealing my breakfast nook curtains. Which I made, by the way. Sewing and all. I'm so proud of myself. This was a huge triumph for me! I mean, I had to do quite a lot of sewing with an end result that would be visible to anyone in my home. No pressure... It was actually a lot simpler than I thought it would be and something that I'm really glad that I did. I'm practically bursting at the seams to work on more sewing projects. Plus, the outcome of the curtains is enough to make me want to continue. They're lovely and just what I had been imagining for the space. Happy dance! I just love how they turned out. This space is coming together! ...
