Friday... Isn't it one of the best days of the week?! In today's TGI-Friday post, I thought it would be fun to share the last 5 house things I've purchased... minus groceries! Even though I haven't been posting on the blog, that doesn't mean I haven't been buying the house some goodies here and there! (Can't stop, won't stop!) But first, let's take a good look at some of the big highlight things we've been up to the past few months... Have I ever told you about my love for scones? If I haven't, I'm not sure what I've been doing. I love scones! I've always been obsessed with them, and I've now, happily, passed that love onto Todd. I couldn't believe he hadn't ever had a scone before ...

Picking Our Interior Paint Colors
When it came to picking our interior paint colors, I knew I wanted to keep a clean, bright interior. So many of the fun and custom touches we'll be adding to the house will come over time, and not knowing exactly what we'll want to do down the road, I wanted to give the house a blank slate that would encourage some creativity. As you might know, picking interior paint colors can be tricky. I've learned over time, through trial and error, that nearly every single paint color looks different in different lighting. Depending on how much natural or artificial light a room has, will change (or highlight) the undertone of the paint color. I have my tried and true colors that I tend to turn to ...
Scraping Popcorn Ceilings & Removing The Carpet
When we initially bought the Willow house, it was really stinky. It wasn't really a smell you could identify as just one thing, but rather layers of odd smells combining into this gross odor. As soon as you walked in the door it hit you, and everyone who walked through it in the beginning would always tell us how bad it smelled.... and we agreed! It's just one of the fun perks of remodeling a neglected home. Our initial plan to tackle the smell, and to start demo'ing the house, was to scrape the popcorn ceilings. All that texture holds bad smells, and several parts of the popcorn ceiling was coated in either grease (in the kitchen), or soot from the downstairs fireplace. A few spots also ...
Introducing The Willow House
If ever there was a true fixer upper of a house that needed TLC, remodeling and updating, it'd be this one. But even with all the popcorn ceilings, stained and utterly gross carpet, water leaks, and outdated heating and A/C, we knew this house had so much potential to be an incredible home. It would need time, money and lots of hard work, but the outcome would be entirely worth it. And I haven't ever been afraid of a house challenge, so... bring it on! I'm so happy to introduce you to The Willow House! The backyard has a beautiful and huge Willow tree, so we've fondly named the house after it. Easily the worst home on the block, we are so looking forwarding to bringing this ...
Christmas Home Tour
In the past, I've gone all out in the house decorating for Christmas. Every little space had something that indicated it was the Christmas season... and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, it all adds up to make me feel a little claustrophobic at the end of the day. It also makes me want to put it all away and start with a clean fresh slate right after Christmas. This year though, I toned things down and the house feels so much better... Instead of adding a bunch of Christmas specific decor items, I went with more of a simplified winter theme. And just like I skipped the real tree this year, I also skipped the real garland too. Last year I had such a huge mess to clean ...
Flocked Christmas Tree
For the past few years, my go to Christmas tree has always been a real, live beautiful tree. But I won't kid you, they're not always the best... Last year the first tree we bought for the living room died within a few weeks, after I decorated it and only a week or so into December. I decided I didn't want to stare at a dead Christmas tree all month, so we bought another one and I redecorated it the same way. And then, there's obviously the clean up from the fresh trees. By the time they go out the door once Christmas is over, they're pretty much fried and those needles go everywhere. I decided to go with a fake one this year to save on my sanity, and bought a gorgeous flocked Christmas ...
TGI-Friday
Happy TGI-Friday! This week has been busy! Between all the Christmas posts here on the blog (are you all caught up?), I had a fun Christmas photo shoot Wednesday, and then I've been working on a big living room design for a client of mine! Needless to say, I'm ready for the weekend... and having a schedule free couple of days! I'll be sharing more Christmas decorating next week, but here's a peek from Wednesday's photo shoot. I call this, grab a cookie (or two) and run! Please note: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which allows me to make a small commission from your purchase, but your purchase price stays the same. Thank you for helping support my ...
TGI-Friday
I think we can all agree that Fridays tend to be a pretty great day of the week... at least I really like them, ha! I've wanted a way to share random bits, happenings and fun finds on the blog for a long time. And while sometimes those things don't have enough content on their own to make a full post, combing them together makes perfect sense. So, welcome to TGI-Friday, a fun collection of random things I find and love, a place where I share happenings around the house and even some personal bits here and there, as well as a behind the scenes look into my life and projects. It's casual, fun and probably more personal than I've ever been on the blog. Let's do this. I've wanted to ...
Fall Home Tour- Part Two
Today I'm back to share part two of my fall home tour. In my last post, part one, I focused on our kitchen and breakfast nook, but today it's all about our living and dining room. This past spring, our living room underwent quite the transformation. It needed a little refresh, and I'm loving the direction it's going! I've always been a lover of neutral décor, which makes it easy to change up with the seasons. I also love fresh greenery, especially tree clippings. It always adds the best touch. I also really love how the new leather furniture ties in with the cabinets in the kitchen. The combination of white and dark really makes my heart happy, and it works so well with all ...
Summer Home Tour
It's officially summer, which means it's time to share our summer home tour! Today I'm so happy to be joining Nina, from Nina Hendrick, and several of my other blogging friends as we open the door to our homes and welcome you inside for a little tour! It seems these past few months have flown by, and in all honesty, I've just been content with our home. I haven't been itching to majorly change things, and it's really refreshing to feel that way! So, let's start the tour, shall we? Just like every year, I've kept things pretty simple. I trimmed some of our Aspen trees and they set the tone for our home. The leaves were so vibrant and fresh, the clippings made the house feel like ...
Let’s Talk Office Chairs
We're getting close to actually finishing up our office, and now we're down to the point of putting in all the finishing touches that will really take this room to the next level. I still have a few tutorials to share, like the actual desk area, our DIY leather hardware and a few other things, but while I wrap up all of those details, let's talk office chairs, because it's still a big unknown. Deciding on an office chair has easily been one of my biggest hang ups for the room, and I really don't want to settle on a chair that isn't right for the space, or comfortable enough for me to actually want to sit and work for long periods of time. I have that problem now with our ...
Life Lately
I wanted to stop by today to share a little bit about life lately. We've been working on several things behind the scenes, and then other things (like office progress) have come to a halt... And all because Anthony and I both caught the nasty bug that's been going around. Anthony got it first, and then had sciatica problems which left him in severe pain. We were making trips to the chiropractor a few times a week to try and get him back up and running. He's always had back issues (and 4 knee surgeries!), so we had to get him back up and walking. He spent about a week down and out on the couch, poor guy, and I felt really, really bad for him. Just when he couldn't take it any longer, he ...
Home Office Mood Board & Design Plan
Just a few days ago, I spilled the details on our first big project of the new year. And when I say it's a big project, I mean it. It's basically an entire room makeover from start to finish. Every single element in the room is being added fresh, which makes this an exciting project! Starting from scratch allows me to really nail down exactly what the room will look like, and how it will function- an important element for our new office. I need it to function well, it's a necessity. Today, I wanted to share our mood board for our new home office, and the overall design of the space. We've already begun the process and I'm excited to say everything is looking amazing, and this room is ...

Christmas Home Tour
Today I'm finally getting around to sharing our Christmas home tour! Better late than never, right? :) I've loved making our home cozy this year. For decorating, I decided on a very fresh take with plenty of pops of red, lots of fresh greenery and garland, and a simple, but classic twist. I love Christmas, but I like to keep it simple with decorating. I want our home to feel comforting and welcoming, which is always my favorite feeling. I have plenty of pictures to share with you today, so let's get started with the tour! To start, let's head into our living room... We recently added in our new shelving, which entirely changed the look and function of the room. The shelves are ...
A Touch Of Farmhouse Charm
Blogging often has a way of bringing the most unexpected things to life. Things we never imagine happening, can, and often do happen. There's the opportunity of being published in magazines, being recognized by companies, launching product lines, writing books, etc., etc., etc. They all start out as dreams... as something we love to think about happening, but never think it actually will. Blogging has a funny way of making those things possible. Today, I want to share one of my sweetest friends and her new book, A Touch Of Farmhouse Charm with you. Please note: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which allows us to make a small commission from your purchase, but your ...
Updated Dresser Hardware
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I took a few weeks off for the holiday, and it was very much needed, but I've been busy behind the blog scene prepping for Christmas! I've been decorating up a storm, creating new ways to celebrate Christmas in our home and I'm loving the fresh new perspective I've gained on our home. There are so many changes getting ready to hit the blog, and I'm so excited to share more about the things we've been busy changing up and moving around! In the midst of Christmas decorating, walking around plastic totes filled to the brim of decorations, moving furniture around and switching things up, we had time to switch out and update the hardware on the dresser ...

If not, you can see her dining room here, her kitchen here, and her living room here. When planning for the series, I knew I wanted to bring you a variety of sizes and shapes for the three different front porch's. Fold Up Side Table Makeover
Painting furniture is easily one of the best ways to get major bang for your buck. Not only can you completely transform a piece of furniture, but it also does the budget good. Furniture that was once ugly, dated and neglected can quickly transform into the belle of the ball... That's the power of paint, and it's been no secret here on the blog that I love to repurpose old furniture, and give a good makeover. Today's project specializes on just that... the power of paint! Do you remember my friend Chelsea and her fall dining room that I just shared last week? Swoon, right? Well, she'd been looking for the perfect little side table for her living room, and I happened to stumble ...
Summer Home Tour
Summer is in full swing, and I am so happy to be here sharing our summer home tour. As usual, I kept our home pretty simple as I was decorating for summer, but instead decided to focus on the outdoor elements that really inspire me... especially the stunningly beautiful Russian Olive Tree, which continues to be my favorite tree, ever. I'm also thrilled that Nina from Nina Hendricks Design asked me to join along in sharing our home with such an elite group of bloggers, and Country Living and Birch Lane. If you're looking for some great inspiration for decorating, we've got you covered. Let's start the tour, shall we? This time of year, my kitchen is gearing up for the big canning ...
