Remember when I told you that I wanted to get started fixing up our laundry room? If you’ve forgotten, I really can’t blame you. It seems like I talked about it forever ago.
But just because I haven’t been blogging about it doesn’t mean that we haven’t been busy scheming up new ways to improve the space.
Before we could make too much progress, the laundry room needed to be repainted. Here’s the thing, the current color in the laundry room is called Blue Grass from Benjamin Moore. I really like it, but I’ve found that each time I walk into the laundry room I keep seeing something different. Something softer and muted. Plus, I really want the laundry room to flow with the rest of the house. These days I’m all about a cohesive design.
Here’s the room painted in Blue Grass- we hadn’t even moved in yet.
And here it is with the new paint color!
So much brighter!
And since we’re going to be installing another plank wall (eeeeee!!), I knew that the walls would need to be repainted so that the existing color didn’t show through the plank gaps. That would look yucky.
So, after much debate, I decided on Halo by Benjamin Moore. It’s a lovely soft gray/ putty color. I wanted something that would pop against the crisp white of the plank wall and cabinets, but still look great against rich wood tones and the iron frame console table that we’re planning on putting in the laundry room.
Now that the painting is basically finished, (I still have to caulk the inside of the window and around the broom cabinet, then give it a coat of paint) we can start on the plank wall and install the beadboard around the washer and dryer.
Here’s the plan:
I can’t wait! And I’m thrilled to check off the first item on our to do list. 🙂
