I absolutely love to decorate our front porch for the different seasons. It’s a great way to greet guests, but it also brings in the perfect amount of seasonal cheer! This year, I wanted to try my hand at a pretty garland framing our front door. It’s as lovely as ever….
I just love it! It creates the warmest welcoming, and it focused your attention on the door. So, here’s how to make a garland frame your front door!
Here’s what I started with…

To hang the fresh Juniper tree clippings around the door, I used these Command Brand Outdoor Light Clips…
I spaced them evenly along the trim…
And then used fresh cut Juniper clippings from my parents yard…
I began clipping them in place…
And kept adding the branches to each clip as I went along the trim of the door…
Eventually I made my way around the entire door…
Once all of the clippings were in place, I went back to trim off any long stems that were sticking out…
With that, the garland was done!
If you’re a frequent reader, ( 🙂 ) you probably know how much I LOVE to use fresh clippings from trees throughout the entire year. Thank goodness for Juniper trees, because they are the perfect tree to use as a fresh garland around our door…
Those little berries drive me all sorts of good crazy…
And I love, love, love our wreath this year. I made it just like this one.
It adds the perfect pop of color in comparison to the fresh greenery, making the front door really stand out.
And, I kept out our huge welcome sign. It’s the perfect fit….
I love the view so much, I’ve been coming in through the front door rather than the garage. Pitter patter goes the heart… beat… beat… 🙂
And here’s a few good things to know about those fabulous little clips…
That garland is my favorite… but just wait to see what I added next…. here’s a sneak peek, and I’ll be sharing more about it on Wednesday!
AND, I’ll be sharing the second (and final) part of our Christmas home tour on Thursday, so stay tuned for a big week of decorating! In case you missed the first part of our home tour, you can see it here.

Love me some Command hooks! Total life savers, especially on my concrete walls.
Looks festive and pretty 🙂
Your doorway looks beautiful—nothing like fresh greens! And the wreath is so pretty, too.
I’m inspired by the Command hooks. Do they stick on a lot of types of surfaces? We have stone around our exterior door. I would love to do this! Thank you!

Thank you so much, Jane! I love the Command hooks! They stick great, as long as they are on a smooth surface. If your stone is bumpy or rough, they probably won’t stick that great. I hope that helps! 🙂
Oh, so pretty! I love the wreath….and that garland really frames the door nicely. Good job!
Your home and style is so pretty! I’d not heard of the outdoor command clips ( waterproof weather proof) so I will run out of time but saw wreaths hung by ribbon onto shutters. I wish I could organize my brain to do all that is swirling around inside!!!! Glad to see your pretty door.
