How I Organize Our Wrapping Paper

January 29, 2021

After years of shuffling through boxes of wrapping supplies, I came up with a solution! See how I organize our wrapping paper and keep everything easy to find!

I’ve talked about it before, but I thoroughly enjoy wrapping nice gifts and spending a little bit of extra time and energy into making them feel special. Because of that, I love collecting different styles of wrapping paper and ribbon.  And while that’s all well and good, my “collection” of supplies has grown over time making a big, unorganized mess. There, I said it…

In the past, I’ve had more closet space to shove it all into, but in a house with very limited closet space, every inch of storage space is vital. Having boxes and bags overflowing with gift wrapping supplies doesn’t really feel like the best use of closet space and between the boxes, the bags, the paper, the bows, the ribbon and the tissue paper, we ran out of room a long time ago.

This simple fact became true: If I didn’t figure out a creative way to keep it all organized, I needed to scale back on my collection.

Initially, I thought of doing an over the door organizer, but I couldn’t find one I liked for what I wanted to spend, and I really didn’t have a door I wanted to mount it on. I found my solution when I stumbled upon this wrapping supplies organizer. With great pockets and storage space, and having it all tucked neatly under the bed, with everything in one place, I was sold!

How I Organize Our Wrapping Paper

As soon as it arrived, I started tackling the mess I’d accumulated…

I went through every last scrap of wrapping paper I’d saved, as well as all of my gift bags and ribbon. I tossed any damaged and crumpled bowes, then made a donation pile of gift bags I couldn’t see myself using, as well as tissue paper I didn’t want to keep any longer.

Organizing Gift Boxes, Bags & Wrapping Paper

To maximize space, I started by laying the broken down boxes and gift bags in the bottom of the organizer…

Next, I added all the wrapping paper from my collection, which filled most of the organizer…

I also went through my piles of gift tags, ribbon, scissors and tissue paper, organizing them and using gallon size bags to keep everything together…

One bag for scissors and tape, another for ribbon and curled ribbon, and one for gift tags and tag accessories. With them all better contained, I started putting them in the different pockets.

Organizing Tissue Paper

The largest pocket holds all my tissue paper and curled ribbon…

The next pocket holds the bag of gift tags and accessories, as well as my tape and scissors…

Because I didn’t have too many long tubes of wrapping paper, I was able to use the end of the organizer to hold several rolls of ribbon…

This organizer holds so much stuff and I love that it fits under our guest bed, making it easy to pull it out and start wrapping gifts…

It also has straps, making it easy to save room and cinch down all the wrapping paper…

Organizing Bowes & Ribbon

I didn’t quite have room to fit all my bags of bowes, and I didn’t want to pack them in too tight where they’d get smashed, so I also ordered this bag to store them as well as a few little cardboard boxes and any extra ribbon that couldn’t fit in the main organizer…

This is a big bag! I didn’t fill even half of it!

Overall, I love these organizers! They hold sooo much supplies and I love that it’s all in one place, making it easy to wrap gifts without searching for what I’m needing…

And when I’m done, I just zip it all closed and slide it under the bed…

It doesn’t get any easier than that, and I love that it’s all tucked out of view! It’s also a pretty foolproof system, making it easy to keep organized moving forward.

Overall, I’m loving the end result of this organizing project and I’m so happy I found a solution that works well for us!

Does the bag that holds your ribbon fit under the bed too? I am definitely want to order the wrapping paper organizer but am unsure of the other box. Thanks!

Yes, it does fit under our bed, but it’s not overly full right now. Once it’s full, I’ll need to put it in a closet.
