Fall Home Tour: Part Two

September 24, 2015

Today I’m sharing our fall home tour: part two. I’ve had so much fun taking a minimal, clean approach to fall this year. I’ve never really strayed from the classic fall colors, but I am absolutely loving the change.

Earlier this week, I shared the first part of our fall home tour which focused on the kitchen and breakfast nook. You can see it here. Today, it’s all about the rest of the house.

Let’s get started, shall we?

The dining room is one of my absolutely favorite rooms in our house. This year, I really took a minimal approach to them. I removed a lot of items, which ended up making it look naked for a few days until I adjusted to the difference, but once they settled in, I realized how much I completely love them with minimal items.

I have always had a big sign, frame or mirror sitting in the middle of the lower larger shelf. This year I wanted to switch that up…

Because of the way our house is positioned, our dining room gets flooded with natural light. It’s such a bright and happy room, but it can make it hard to photograph later in the day. This picture is a pretty great representation…

Those shelves though…

I also switched out the end chairs of our table. A certain kitty, who shall remain nameless, decided those chairs were the perfect item to scratch her claws on. I found these chairs at a storage unit sale and fell head over heels in love. A coat of black paint and some tightening brought them right back in style…

Because they have arms, they won’t push under the table, which was a slight bummer because of the size of our rug. It’s too small now, so I’m on the hunt for something larger. 🙂

I carried the Russian Olive tree branches throughout the house, and they are absolutely beautiful…

I also spread cotton stems throughout the house, and it goes perfectly with the real tree branches. The cotton stems will be available for purchase in our online shop, coming mid October!

I even spread a few into the power bathroom, and I can’t wait to show you more of this room. I’ve been adding and subtracting and I think it’s just right…

Since we planked the entry walls (and I am completely in love with them!!), it leads perfectly into our living room.

I just got the farm sacks framed, and I’ll be sharing more about them later next week, but this house is totally coming together…

We have lived in the house 4 years now, and I don’t think I’ve ever shared a home tour where all the main rooms are going in the right direction. There was always something a little bit off, but I can honestly say, this house is reflecting us more and more with every small and large project…

I still have so many things I want to do, but it’s utterly amazing to see (and feel) how far we’ve come!

Our living room has come a very, very long way…

This house is more than a house… It’s our home, and I love this place with all my heart. Each and every project has paid off, whether it’s been successful or not. If it’s lasted, or if it hasn’t, each and every one of them has led to this home. They’ve combined together and joined forces to create a home, and that’s so much more than a house…

I really like the walls in your livingroom, is that still board and batten when it goes all the way up? I also like your dark cupboards, white look great but your dark ones just seem perfect in your house. It is all wonderful, that just stood out at the moment. Really enjoy your blog

Gorgeous! Have you ever thought of putting wheels or coasters to heighten the table. I had the same problem with my new chairs. MY HUbby raised the table to accommodate the extra height needed for the new chairs. I love your fresh new look! Congratulations on your success !

Your home is so big I got lost?. I see you also have a kitchen earring area but I’m lost which way to turn to get there. How pretty is your kitchen cabinet the hood cover deal. Words escape me. How you’ve put it all together seems that you’ve worked hard on a new house and created your own look. Beautiful. I kind of giggle about the cotton being decor. I moved to southern San Joaquin Valley where cotton was grown in abundance. My girls worked for an agronomist counting leaves on samoples. My friends Dad had his doctorate and headed up the cotton research center. It grew all over!! I had a man deliver a cotton huge bundle to my classroom each year so I could show the students about the seed and we pulled on it and then took a field trip and saw thevgiantbcotton pickers and huge mashed white loaves of cotton waiting to go to the cotton gin. In all those years, not one of us made a wreathbbnorvstuck some in a vase!! Nor tossed a bit here and there. I feel so silly!! All that artwork and we did not see it except as the lucrative ag product notbthevbeautiful item!!! Love how you used it!!
