The small town Colorado girl who’s obsessed with home and everything that entails! I’m a creative, a decorator, a day dreamer, a huge fan of scones, and I’m passionate about loving where I live and making a home.
It’s been such an exciting few days around here. Amongst several other things that are going on right now, we have drywall in the loft!! Eeek!
While the pictures are nothing super pretty to look at, they are certainly exciting! The drywall has completely changed the entire loft, and it feels like the perfect place for this online business. It’s almost like it’s just been sitting there waiting for this to happen. And happening it is…
The guys came last week and had the all the drywall hung in a day…
Such a huge difference. It’s as dramatic as paint… From drab to fab in no time!
Then, they came back and started adding mud to the seams.
Now, we’re waiting on the last coat for the seams, then they’re going to be adding the texture! I chose a light skip trowel, which is the same texture that we have in the house. The walls will almost look completely smooth, but there will be just a hint of something there.
This past weekend, I decided to sand down the existing beam. It was covered with Orange Shellac, which I just don’t do. At all.
So, I sanded it down to the bare wood and roughed it up for a bit of character. I’ll share more with a specific tutorial, but it made all the difference…
Here’s a good side by side comparison of the difference…
So much better! Anthony and I have also been discussing what we’re going to do as a cover for the top portion of the loft. At first I was thinking doors, but obviously they wouldn’t open with the pitch of the ceiling, so we’re going to build a cover for it instead. I’ll be sharing that tutorial soon as well. 😀
I’m also getting ready to buy all the light fixtures! I have big plans for that back wall..
And, we still have a railing to build around the stairway…
We’ve made so much progress already, but I can’t help but get excited about adding in all the details! They’re my favorite!
All roads lead to painting this weekend! 😀
