Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed or intimidated by setting a holiday table. If you’re raising your hand, know that I’ve been right there with you. I can remember a time when it felt like a really hard task… but honestly, setting the table for a holiday really doesn’t need to be all that stressful or hard… promise. All that matters at the end of the day, is that you’re gathering together with family and friends to celebrate. And if we’re really being honest, the only necessities are the plates and silverware… okay, and maybe a glass! But we also like things to be pretty too, right?
Today, for my Christmas table setting in the dining room, I’m sharing such an easy idea… my hope is that we can take the fear or overwhelming feelings and toss them right out the window! (And be sure to check out yesterday’s post, where I shared a different, more casual table setting in the breakfast nook… equally easy… of course!)
I honestly have so much fun switching up the dining room. The dark moody shelves are such a fabulous backdrop to anything I choose to place on the shelves! And this year, they got a pretty big makeover in the accessories I’m displaying (more on that tomorrow though!).
To start the table this year, I decided on a dark green velvet table runner. Just like in yesterday’s table setting, I used a few yards of fabric, and folded it in thirds. The result is an amazing table runner that makes such a lovely statement…
It couldn’t have been easier… I promise! Then, to tie in with the dark green runner, I used two big, lovely wreaths as the centerpiece…
I popped a hurricane vase into the center of each wreath, and just like that, I had an amazing (and easy) centerpiece…
It looks fabulous with the dark green runner and the crisp white dishes…
And because the wreaths are so full, I kept each place setting pretty simple…
I’m honestly looking forward to sharing more of the dining room (and those shelves) with you tomorrow, but in the mean time, here’s a little sneak peek!
