When we redid the shed and gave it a makeover, one thing I really wanted to add were the faux windows. And with them, I couldn’t wait to have chicken wire cups hanging from the fencing wire.
They have so many uses and I love the idea of actually planting in them next spring.
In the mean time, they look fabulous with the freshly clipped greenery…
And they’re so easy to make, just like the chicken wire baskets I shared earlier.
Here’s how I made them:
First, I cut the chicken wire to my desired size…
Then, I wrapped the wire around…
And wrapped the wire edges around each side…
To make the bottom, I pushed the chicken wire up and attached all the wires together.
With the bottom secured, I started on the top. I used 14 gauge galvanized steel wire and made a circle the same size as the chicken wire cup.
Then I wrapped the two ends together with extra wire.
I placed it on the top of the cup…
Then I wrapped the chicken wire around the steel wire…
With that, it’s done.
Easy, right? And they look great!
I love them with the faux windows and I can’t wait to find other uses for them!

I love this sort of project, because you’re using inexpensive, easy to find materials and then spinning your special magic to create something really cute!
I can see changing out the materials in the baskets, seasonally. Evergreens and holly at Christmas, branches of colorful fall leaves in Autumn etc.
There’s a garden gate at my house begging for a chicken wire basket! 🙂
