Bring a bit of character to your home with an antique clock. Given to me by a friend, I was on a search to find the perfect place to put it. Now, it's happy in the kitchen, and I'm happy to look at it every day. Here's the story of our antique kitchen clock... Now that my friends, family, and acquaintances know that I have a blog (it took me forever to share this with them...), I have so many people on the lookout for me. Sometimes the items aren't so great, and other times they are amazing. Either way, I'm so humbled to have friends and family searching my town and surrounding areas, all while keeping me in mind any time they see something that could possible be "just the thing". ...

Fence Picket Outdoor Table Top
I have a confession, and it's kind of funny.... We have a lovely patio area... but no patio table. Ha! When we built our home we added a big patio off the back. One that overlooks incredible mountain and farm views. It's lovely out there, especially when we're entirely surrounded by corn. But until a few weeks ago, it sat empty. Well, not entirely. We do have a grill and two chaise lounges that I swiped off the side of road pre-blogging. (Anthony should have known then...) But other than that, it was empty. And what's a patio without a patio table? It's like macaroni without cheese. It's just wrong. Luckily, a while back I scored a round metal patio table for free. It was ...
Wicker Rocking Chair
Remember yesterday when I told you about that fabulous estate sale? Well, I scored some amazing things. I can't wait to show them all to you! But, I practically had to contain my excitement and natural urge to jump up and down while shrieking (that would have been an interesting site...) when I saw this wicker rocking chair... But it didn't always look this good... it started out bright yellow.... And it was missing a little bit of the original wicker... Still though, I couldn't pass it up. I mean, how often do you run across a wicker rocking chair. Especially for $5.00? I knew I could probably fix the missing wicker, so right when I got home I started ...
Side Stool Makeover
Sometimes, inspiration strikes me at the oddest times. And since the 4th of July is just around the corner, my latest project was inspired by the U.S.A. But it's not the stars or stripes that caught my attention, even though I love them with all my heart. This girl is a super proud American! This time, I was inspired by the year we first declared our independence: 1776. A while back, I found myself at the right place at the right time.... an estate sale! And the best part? They let me walk through before the sale began to pick out things I wanted to buy before the sale. And they negotiated on prices. Be still my heart! One of the things I grabbed, was this little ...
Breakfast Nook Plantation Shutters
A while back I posted how much I love plantation shutters and how much they inspired me. Gah! They're just gorgeous! But on the flip side, they're very expensive! If you've ever priced them yourself, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I quickly realized that if I really wanted those plantation shutters I was going to have to let go of my thoughts of ordering them online. Instead, I hit the streets & internet and kept my eye out for cheaper options. Hoping I could find some on craigslist and finding that our area actually didn't have a single one listed, I turned to thrift/ consignment stores hoping they would have some- and they did, but they were almost as expensive as ...
$3 Thrift Store Chair
Months ago I found a sad little chair at the thrift store. With a price of $3.00, how could I not bring it home? It was pretty beat up and I had to fill several holes and large gashes, but I'm totally and completely in love with the end results. Who knew $3.00 could do that? I mean, really? Here's what I started with... Plastic orange seat and all. Deciding on the paint color was the hardest... I couldn't choose between 3 colors. So, I mixed them all together. I mixed Ashwood (Benjamin Moore), White (Out of the can, Benjamin Moore) and Mourning Dove (Sherwin Williams). The result was such a pretty color! After I filled holes, sanded and wiped down the chair, I ...
Thrift Store Headboard & Footboard
I seriously cannot contain my excitement for my latest thrift store find.... Eeee! On a spur of the moment decision, I stopped by our local thrift store. I scoped out the downstairs and then made my way upstairs (YES, our thrift store does have 2 floors... AND I live in a small town...?!). I had just rounded the corner from the book section and walked right into a whole bunch of brass headboards. Immediately, my heart started beating overly fast! You see, I've had my heart set on this certain headboard for awhile now. It's from Pottery Barn (shocker), but the price was waaay out of my budget... Pottery Barn But in that huge pile of headboards, was the one... And it just happened ...
Thrift Store Milk Bottle
The other day I decided to make a trip to the Salvation Army. That's one place that really requires a frequent stop. Most times I walk in there and am overwhelmed by all the goodies. But I know that if I gave into my temptation, our house would be full and my husband would start to think that I had a hoarding problem. Let's not go there- because really I couldn't handle it either! However, when I see something that totally grabs my attention it's typically coming home with me. My latest trip was a big success. I like bottles. I think they're cool. And if when we ever do my dream plan for the dining room, we're going to need some accessories! :) I found this lovely vintage-y/ ...
Kitchen Drink Station
The hubby recently acquired a Keurig single cup brewer for his birthday. Originally, I wasn't too excited about moving my Kitchen Aid mixer in order to make room for his new brew. But, after I saw how excited he was to use it everyday, I knew that I could move my mixer back and forth between uses. Even though it's heavy. That, my friends, is called love! :) And since I was willing to make him feel extra special, why not take it to the next level and convert the empty space into a drink station? Plus, we just happen to have the perfect place to pull it off. I knew one of the first things our drink station would need was a mug tree. And, lucky for me, I found one for $1.50 at ...
Bedroom Reading Ladder
I don't think it's a secret that I periodically check out the thrift/ consignment stores. You never know what you will find since new items come in daily. On a whim, I decided to stop by one on my way home. Not looking for anything specific, I browsed through the store and just happened to find a metal ladder. I was beyond excited! Not only was it cheap, $7.00, but it was also in amazing shape. I couldn't wait to get it home! I'm thinking that it was previously used as a ladder for bunk beds because it had a couple of hooks to attach it to something. I had Anthony cut them off at work, then I cleaned it up and gave it a fresh coat of white spray paint. The hardest part was deciding ...
Entry Coat Tree
A while back (like August...) I found a lovely coat rack at one of the thrift stores. I about passed out when I walked in and saw it sitting there. So, naturally, I stalked it for about five minutes, figured it would be safe to browse through the rest of the store, and headed off in search of other new items. When I went back to the front of the store it was gone! What?! I hurriedly searched around while mentally telling myself that I was a big dummy for not packing it around with me. I was just about to give up when I walked around the last corner and there it sat! The staging lady had moved it to a less noticeable area. I hugged her thanked her for protecting my new favorite ...
Thrifty Finds
At my latest trip to our local thrift/ consignment store, I found some a-mazing items that were just begging for a makeover. I tried to talk myself out of a few of them, but had a feeling that I would totally regret it later. So, I loaded them up. Add that to some items that I had already been collecting, and I am on project overload! Take a look at these beauties and welcome them to our furniture family! The gold mirror is actually from my papa. He recently moved into a new home and couldn't find a place for it or the stack of frames. I graciously offered to show them some love. Here's the awesome mirror. All it needs is a little paint! The frames are for our future gallery wall and ...
