I’m sharing my DIY Apple Wreath tutorial below. Not only is it perfect for fall, but it’s easy to make and the results are stunning!
Fall has officially moved into our home and I can’t wait to share all the decorating I’ve been doing around the house. Get ready!
Since we’ve built them, one of my very favorite places to decorate and change things up, is the dining room shelves. And for fall, I kept imagining a huge wreath full of apples hanging off my recent chalkboard picture frame.
Apples are one of my very favorite things to decorate with for fall, so when it came time to start bringing in those natural elements, I decided to make my own DIY apple wreath.
It’s one of those easy projects that’s so rewarding when it’s finished. Here’s how I made it…
First, I covered the wreath form with the burlap strips, securing everything in place with hot glue…
Then, I grabbed my apples of various sizes and started hot gluing them onto the form….
Slowly, but surely…
I was left with a wreath…
To hide all those little tiny holes between the apples, I stuffed some moss in between the apples…
It looked much better with the moss filler to hide the holes…
And with that, it was ready to hang! I used a piece of burlap ribbon and nailed it to the back of the frame…
I love the vibrant pop of red it brings to the room…
And the contrast against the black chalkboard…
It’s perfectly fall, and I’m looking forward to keeping it out and moving it around…
These dining room shelves have been really fun to decorate these past few days! They’re such a beautiful space to display all sorts of pretty items and I can’t wait to show you all the fall decorating I’ve been doing around the house. It’s all coming up soon!

Hi Shayna. It’s so nice to meet you through discovering your lovely blog and mad DIY apple wreath making skills! I could not hit the Pin It button fast enough. Good news and great projects travel fast. The wreath is simply done, naturally beautiful and a fall focal point- the best way to decorate in my opinion.
Your projects are all so wonderful and creative! I’m looking for red stripe fabrics for our home (for a decent price), Where did you get this red stripe wreath hanger? I also noticed all of your red stripe napkins, and even a pillow. Where did you find your’s? Thank you very much!
THANK YOU so very much, Rachel! 😀 I found this red stripe strap at Walmart! Cheap too! My red stripe towels are from a local store! And the pillows are made from reproduction grain sack fabric! 😀
I hope that helps!
I am making this as soon as possible! This would be an incredible teacher appreciation gift too. An apple wreath for a teacher? How stinking cute would that be? Pinning now!
I love this wreath! Great idea to use the fake apples, I am so stealing this one!
Omg… you did make this!!! Love, love, love this beautiful wreath:) Such a talented lady… xo M
This is one of the cutest things I have seen on Pinterest in a long time!! Can you tell us where you bought those apples and how much they were? I would love to make one of these!
THANK YOU so much! I bought the apples at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and our local craft store. Each store had different sizes. I don’t remember exactly how much I spent on the apples, but it was probably around $30 to $40? There are a lot of apples! Hope that helps! 😀
Love this! So pretty!!

Did you glue the natural filler in place or just stuff it into the holes? Thanks!
I cannot wait to make this! Gorgeous! What size foam wreath did you use? Thanks!
Thank you so much! I used a 14″ foam wreath form! I hope that helps! 🙂
So pretty, and perfect for fall. I’m sharing!
Where did u find your apples for this? I’m finding them online & they are pricey!!! 🙂
Hi Melissa! I found the apples are three different craft stores, Hobbby Lobby, Michaels, and a small local store. They each carried a different size, which was helpful! I hope that helps!
I started working at White House Foods about two months ago (they make White House Applesauce and Vinegar products). And…. I just got moved into my very own little office. That has absolutely NOTHING on the walls and no window (better than sharing an office though! – I’m an accountant and need my peace and quiet lol). Sooooo I just might pick the stuff up to make this!!! Perfect!!!

Hello, I love your wreath!!!! I really want to make one of these but need help finding the apples. My michaels didn’t have them. Do u know the specific brands you used? I was thinking maybe I can order them on Amazon? Can you help!? Thank you !!!!!!
Dana
Thank you so much, Dana! I wish I could be more helpful, but I don’t remember the brand of apples. I just bought a variety of different sizes and made them work. I love Amazon, and that would probably be a great place to look! I hope you find some! 🙂

Hello, I love your wreath!!!
I just made this wreath and it looks great! I’m at a standstill because I’m unsure how you connected the strap and how did you hang it?
I’m so happy you love your wreath! For the ribbon, I just simply wrap the ribbon around the top of the wreath, and then use a push pin to hold it together on the back side. Ribbon with wire edging helps to hold the structure a little better, but it works without it as well. To hang it on the chalkboard, I pounded a small nail through the ribbon onto the back of the frame. I hope that makes sense! 🙂
Absolutely fabulous!
Thank you! 🙂
This is really beautiful! I love the apples as an alternative to pumpkins for fall. I shared this as part of a fall wreath diy round-up on my blog- if you’d like to check it out. Thanks so much the inspiration!
Hi Shayna, this wreath is perfect for ushering in September!
Love it and pinned it 🙂
Wow looks Awesome! I will definitely do that with my Mom!
I love this so much, I wish you would just ship it to me
Amazing Tutorial. Very Nice Thanks for it. Always Good Job.
could this be an outdoor wreath? It wouldn’t get wet, but it would be exposed to sun.
You could use this wreath outdoors where it’s covered, but my only concern would be the hot glue holding the apples. It may not hold up as well.
Do you have an amount of apples it takes?
I didn’t specifically count them as I added them to the wreath form, but based on a quick count from the picture, I would say around 50-60. It will depend on your wreath form size too.
