Denim Leaves
In preparation for setting our Thanksgiving table, I’ve been collecting a few of my favorite fall things. And I really wanted to make some denim leaves…
A few years ago I found a gorgeous shaped leaf. I’ve packed it around for a while and it’s made an appearance in a few different decorating vignettes around the house. Right now it’s in our dining room…
Have I mentioned that I love the shape? Mer-cy!
So, I decided to make a few copies of it… with denim!
I reeally love the back side of denim, so I traced the leaf shape onto the “normal” side of the fabric with a white fabric pencil.
Then I just cut it out…
And used the cut out leaf as my new template.
I traced of few of them onto the denim… It goes pretty fast!
Once I had them all cut out, I ironed them flat. But if you didn’t want to, you could leave them as is. They look naturally crumpled. I’ll show you what I’m talking about in a bit.
These leaves make me so super happy. It’s those little details that I really love, and I can’t wait to use them on our Thanksgiving table!
And here’s what they look like “crumpled”…
Either way, they’ve just lo-vely!
I’m already thinking of so many fabulous uses for them. From banners, garland, book marks and iron on shapes, these leaves are perfect!
I can’t wait to show you what I have in store for them!

Nice shaped leaf and perfect for a cut-out. Love denim as it goes with everything. You could add an initial or name to them for place cards when needed. I like that is not all frayed. I cut some from painter’s drop-cloth and they frayed, but I still love them. Thanks for another great crafting idea.

Such a cute idea! I love how you incorporated Fall, but not in the traditional “orange” color.
For a minute I thought you had cut a bunch of leaves and attached them to a blue ticking table runner, but they were actually just on your ironing board cover. The table runner idea would look cute though. Thanks for all of your great inspiration!
