HUGE Front Porch Welcome Sign

DIY, Projects

  1. Mir Graham says:

I noticed your sign last night on Fox Hollow Cottage, and I am curious- what is the color on your front door?

  2. Sharon Eshleman says:

Super Easy and Super Cute! Where I live in New Mexico…hot glue doesn’t work too well. When it is hot, it falls off and when it is cold, it pops off! But I love it!

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Sharon! Super glue works great for our area & porch, but if I had the hot and cold problem, I would definitely nail them on! 😀
      Have a great weekend!
      -Shayna

    • Sheryl Sutton-Sigler says:

Too hot for us in Texas too so just used small nails and it worked wonderfully. I put WELCOME on one side for most of the year, and BELIEVE on the other for those special holiday times!!!! LOVE IT!!!! I also used an old picket from our fence we replaced!!!!

  3. Tina Buenzow says:

you are so blessed to have corn stalks and a parent’s farm where you can score all these wonderful things! I love how it turned out!:)

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Tina! I AM blessed to have corn stalks and my parents farm! It’s loaded with goodies! 😀

  5. Amy says:

Beautiful! and yes, so very easy I’m thinking I need to make one for my front porch 🙂 I’m not sure I want it to say welcome though, seeing as I don’t want “un-welcomed” people thinking they are… hmmmm maybe one that says Autumn Blessings?

  6. Christine says:

PINNED…you are a genious! Christine from Little Brags

  15. I love this! I now want to go raid my dad’s shop to see if he’s hoarding any old wood (he can’t throw wood out, even when it’s old). Love all of this!

  16. That looks so amazing on your front porch. I love how you decorated around it as well. What a nice entry!

  17. Jennifer Alexander says:

Do you know the dementions of the board you used

  18. […] cheap, cool, whatever.  That is exactly what I thought when I saw Shayna’s post for her Huge Welcome Sign on The Woodgrain Cottage.  I have a large porch and didn’t get hay bales this year to […]

  19. Rachel says:

Hi! Question — are the letters metal or ?? Love the sign!!

  22. Bethany says:

I love your sign and the whole arrangement of things around it. Your door is such a pretty color too!

  23. Diane Zueck says:

I just subscribed to wood grain cottage after seeing a pin on Pinterest. I am not a crafty person, but I am going to try to make your welcome sign. The entire front porch is so inspiring. I love it all. We live in the country a ways off the road, so big over-sized decorations is what I need to show up as people drive by. This sign will definitely do the trick. One question – what kind of glue gun and glue sticks do you use? Mine does not get super hot.

    • Shayna says:

Welcome Diane! I’m so happy to have you! 😀 For the hot glue gun, I bought mine at Hobby Lobby. It’s cordless and made by Surebonder. On the packaging, the glue gun will tell you how hot it gets, at least mine did. I hope that helps! 😀

  24. Ah that is so cute! Our front porch needs to love asap. Such a great idea.

  25. Melinda Todd says:

I LOVE this! It turned out beautifully and I love how simple it is! May have to snag these letters when I hit hobby lobby tomorrow too 🙂

  26. Lesa says:

What size is the board approx…if you cant find an old piece of reclaimed wood like you used what else would you suggest. I would LOVE to make this but cant seem to find a board like you used. Thanks!

  27. Tarrin says:

I love your front door and was wondering what the paint color was? Thanks Tarrin

  28. Tammy says:

I love your front porch, I found the perfect to make this. On the back I am going to paint BELIEVE in red for Christmas! I was wondering how you keep the cornstalks beside the sign standing up? Thank you for the awesome ideas!!!!

    • Shayna says:

Thank you so much, Tammy! Your idea sounds wonderful! The cornstalks were quite sturdy, but I did use some rope to tie them all together, then I fanned out the bottom of them to create a “base”. I hope that helps! 🙂

  29. Sherri says:

    Your porch looks great!!
What is the name of the paint on your front door?
    Thanks!

  30. We love everything about this and want to share it in our new Thanksgiving post! I’ll get you a link when it’s live.

    Great stuff Shayna

Thanks for your great idea. I plan to do the same thing….only I want to turn it 90 degrees and say FRONT PORCH. I’ve been looking for a pre-made sign & I ran across your idea, LOVE IT!

  33. lisa says:

I absolutely love this and am planning on making these as welcome gift bags for my sister’s wedding. What kind of paint did you use? Are of my paint is water soluble, and I am worried that the paint will eventually run or fade if water gets on it. Did you seal the paint somehow afterwards? Thank you!!!
