These are a great way to hide “the stuff”.
Do you have something on the bottom of the crates so that it doesn’t scratch your floor?

    • Shayna says:

Thank you, Cheryl! They are a great way to hide stuff! 🙂
Yes, we have 4 felt furniture circles on the bottom of each of the crates. I didn’t want them to scratch up the floor!

Lol, you are punny!! Ha ha! I am LOVING your crates, and the whole room makeover!!

  11. These are awesome! I wanted to do something similar when we redid our laundry room but it was going to make my machines too high to have a useable countertop (I use the counter daily because it is also the mud room). These are so fabulous and convenient though, wish I could have them too! Great building work:)

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Krista! I’m loving them! They not only look great, but they’re super functional! 🙂

  12. Cynthia says:

You and your husband are so talented, Shayna! Just wondering though…don’t you get a lot of vibration and noise from having your washer on a wooden platform? Mine sits on the pedestal sold with it, but on laminate flooring and we’ve had a terrible time keeping the washer “CALM”! I’d love to try something like this because my laundry room is the same size as yours and there’s no space for the baskets.
Glad to find your site, from It’s Overflowing linky party.

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so very much, Cynthia! I’m happy you found me! Welcome to the WGC! 🙂
I know what you mean about the front load washer… luckily, we don’t have any problems with it on the pedestal. We had it built extra sturdy and the vibration is minimal, especially since we have placed a little piece of sticky backed sandpaper underneath the front of the washing machine’s legs. That has helped with the occasional “walk”. Before, we had the machine on concrete and it really moved. After every load I would need to pull it back in place. The sandpaper has worked wonders. We bought ours from our local appliance store, but they said our machine should have came with them.
      I hope that helps! 🙂

I saw you mention the console table at the beginning of the post and love that it is small and compact. Did you make it, too, or do you have a source?

    Thanks!

Hi Shayna, I’m a long time reader and first time commenter. I know you probably can’t get a full on shot of the front of the W/D but I was wondering why two crates fit under the washer and only one under the dryer. I love those crates! Such a sleek/rustic finished look!

    • Shayna says:

Thank you so much, Karen! We love our crates as well! I actually designed out washer and dryer platform to fit two crate on one side, and one on the other. The divider had to be there for support, so I worked around it! 🙂

  18. Stephanie says:

Wow, fantastic job. My laundry room is long and narrow as well and I will use yours as an inspiration as I redecorate. I noticed Anthony wasn’t wearing safety glasses in the pictures with the power tools, please remind him to use them. It would be terrible if an accident happened.
