I am fully aware that I just showed you the new drapes for the breakfast nook. However, after I started thinking about how the room would be used, I began wondering if drapes would really be the best choice for a bench seat where people frequently sit.
I kept imagining someone sitting on the drapes and pulling them off the wall. Yikes!
Don’t worry about the drapes though, I have plans for them! I just can’t show you yet. 🙂
Anyways, my newest idea for the window is doing cafe plantation shutters. That way the room will still get a huge amount of nature light, but it will give it that extra punch of texture. I’m still planning on putting up our woven shades and think that the combo will be quite pleasing to the eye.
After searching around the internet, I found that I’m not the only one with this lovely idea.
Here’s what I’m thinking:

Since we’re going with a cafe style, the shutters will only go up the window a partial way leaving the top open. Plenty of natural light should still fill the room. That was my biggest worry. I’ve become quite used to the fact that the new plank wall adds a much needed depth and brightness to the room. I don’t want to do anything that will alter that. Plus, shutters definitely add to the cotage-y vibe that we’re trying to inject throughout our home.
Hopefully, I’ll have something to show you soon! 🙂

What a lovely home! I remember my friend’s house in a countryside. It’s only smalll but it looks very elegant. I noticed lots of window shutters. I got an idea now.
Thanks for you comment Chelsea! I love shutters too- and I’m glad you enjoyed the inspiration! 🙂
