Hello and welcome to The Wood Grain Cottage. My name is Shayna and that handsome fellow next to me is my husband, Anthony. We live in the beautiful state of Colorado!
As a child, my love was deep for anything to do with design and rearranging. Countless times my mother would find my room completely disassembled. Each time I moved things around, I found that I loved the process of putting everything back together. That passion has grown over the years, which led me to the blogging world.
I first started my blogging adventure as Brightly Inspired, but after my husband and I built our new home, I found that Brightly Inspired no longer described who I was- who we are. Brightly Inspired was perfect while we were in the planning and designing stages, but since we’ve moved in and are focused on adding custom touches, we were ready for something else- something that would reflect the meaning of our home and design personality. Enter in: The Wood Grain Cottage.
It all came about from my husbands’ love of anything with “wood grain” and my obsession with cottage style design. Put the two together and you have our idea of the perfect home!
We love our home. It’s our favorite place to be! Our header basically sums it up: There’s no place like home! With every project or craft, we are constantly striving to create the perfect balance and a place that makes us both grin from ear to ear. After all, we do share this lovely home of ours, and it should reflect us both!
We have a very sweet furry friend who makes our hearts happy and we own a farm which keeps my husband extra busy!
Along this blogging journey of ours, we hope to inspire our readers and share the journey as we turn this house into our loving home.

I am new to reading blogs and am over-dosing on the wonderful ideas and inspiration out there in web world!
I love to decorate and sew and paint and am learning to crochet.
We moved to TN from Vegas and it was a down sizing that took me a while to appreciate. (we went from a 2900 sq ft home to a bit over 1200!!)
Ii am now loving our little Cape Cod and itching to start making it ours. Pinterest and the blogs it has lead me to have encouraged me immensely. I am in the process of putting in a wood floor upstairs (plywood stirips to be painted white).
I am loving your wood walls and I will be trying those too. (my hubby has MS so I need to pick things I can do alone on his off days).
