TGI-Friday

I think we can all agree that Fridays tend to be a pretty great day of the week… at least I really like them, ha! I’ve wanted a way to share random bits, happenings and fun finds on the blog for a long time. And while sometimes those things don’t have enough content on their own to make a full post, combing them together makes perfect sense. So, welcome to TGI-Friday, a fun collection of random things I find and love, a place where I share happenings around the house and even some personal bits here and there, as well as a behind the scenes look into my life and projects. It’s casual, fun and probably more personal than I’ve ever been on the blog. Let’s do this.

New Pendant Lighting In The Kitchen by The Wood Grain Cottage

I’ve wanted to update the pendant lighting in my kitchen for a good, long while. It finally happened… and I slow clapped. You can see more details over on my Instagram page!

I just ordered this digital print for the dining room. I’m planning on displaying it on the shelving for Christmas, and I’m only a little bit excited to see it as a 24″ x 36″ replacement of our current “Let’s Stay Home” sign. Big and bold, coming right up!

I know it’s been a little bit quieter on the blog lately, and I appreciate you checking in on me. In truth, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes, including me doing some client design work locally, and quite a bit of interior photography for a local company as well. Sometimes things just fall into your lap… and it’s awesome!

If you follow me on Instagram (and you definitely should), you know I shared a sneak peek of my new Christmas tree in my “stories”, and then the plan I came up with for decorating it! Here’s the peek I shared… full post on it coming to the blog soon!

Christmas Tree Decorating Plan by The Wood Grain Cottage

I’ve been looking to add a new floor lamp to the living room, and this one caught my eye. I like that I can pick my own lamp shade… but I’d have to hide that cord!

Next week I’m having my amazing photographer friend come over to do a mini Christmas photo shoot. I’d like to show more on how each space is used and lived in… I’m hoping it feels more personal, welcoming and “real”. I’ve been planning out my outfit, and I’ve discovered this is the perfect excuse to buy a new top. I’m thinking something like this

If you’re ready for some Christmas decorating inspiration, my home tour will be on the blog soon. In the mean time, here’s my tour from last year. It’s fun to see how much has changed in a year. I’m looking at you, living room

On a girls trip a few weeks ago, I stumbled onto these sunglasses. I found three pair I really loved, but it was two for $20, so I had to leave one behind. They’ve haunted me since I left them sitting on the store checkout counter (staring at me as I walked away, I might add)… so I’m buying them. I like having options, and these pair so well with casual outfits.

My favorite Christmas cd this year.

And lastly, I’m having a big sale in my online shop! Free shipping, as well as mark downs! My Silent Night pillow is perfect for the Christmas season!
