The Simple Thanksgiving Table

I can hardly believe it, but Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Most of us are probably in the early stages of planning, but today I thought I’d share the simple Thanksgiving table. No worry, no fuss, just a simple gathering to enjoy your family and friends.

As you probably know, I always tend to decorate on the simpler side of things. Simple is in my blood. But just because something is simple, doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful. This year, I’ve created the simple Thanksgiving table. It’s the table that doesn’t leave room for stress, but focuses instead on the family gathering. It’s the table that doesn’t overwhelm guests, making them feel uncomfortable, but instead gives them the warm feeling of being welcome. It’s also the table that lets you, the host, focus on the food and the guests.

Today, I’ve joined several of my good friends to create a Thanksgiving “hop”. Each of us has focused on a certain aspect of the Thanksgiving gathering, giving you plenty of ideas on how to decorate your table to celebrate this wonderful season.

My take on the hop, is the chair backing. When I say I kept it simple, I mean that I kept it reaaalllly simple. Because in the rush of doing everything else, the last thing you want, is to be worrying about creating a hard chair backing. In my house, that’s not going to happen. So, friends, I give you the easiest chair decorating in the history of ever…

Yes, I simply tied a pretty lace ribbon to the back of the chair in a bow. But even though it took about 2 seconds, it looks absolutely wonderful. It’s just the right touch, and it doesn’t take away from the chairs. It also coordinates with the table, making that simple little detail really shine…

The lace of the ribbon, closely matches the lace on the napkins, and the color coordinates with the blanket table cloth….

And because I’m a neutral girl through and through, and through some more, I used the subtle colors of fall…

The simplicity of this table is my favorite element. There’s just enough going on, that every single aspect gets a chance to be noticed…

I’ve wanted copper Moscow mugs for a looong time, so when I finally got my hands on these, I knew I wanted them to be a focal point of the table…

The hammered detail makes them glisten, and it adds an elegant finishing touch to the table…

I used the same wood chargers I made a few years ago, and absolutely adore the simple design, and the color they bring to the table. They tie in perfectly with the blanket table cloth…

And those place card holders? Well, I love them. I didn’t know they would match our dining set so perfectly until I placed them on the plate. They look wonderful together!

They’re subtle, but just the right touch. Plus, they can be used in so many different ways.

And just as much as I love neutrals, I also love white dishware and serve ware. White brings a simple elegance, and it brightens up the table…

I have a growing collection, and it’s a serious weakness for me. This dish was a perfect addition to my other pieces…

All of these items combine to create a table full of character, charm and texture. Every item brings its own unique touch, and together they make a special setting.

Even if you don’t set a fancy table for Thanksgiving, that doesn’t mean it still can’t be beautiful. Hopefully my simple table inspires you. 🙂
