How To Start A Blog

Business, Personal

  1. This is some wonderful advice and tips. I am a newbie to blogging and I have had some stumbling blocks, fears, nail biting, and just out and out fear. I am working to have good content, photos, and consistent posting, but you are correct that blogging is hard work. There is a lot of work involved and sometimes I wonder if anyone really knows that I am out there. I am still working at it and I know I will probably make many mistakes and changes as I go, but I have ladies like you to inspire me and keep me going and I thank you.

Ok now for the legal part. Are there any legal issues I need to know? What about blogging etiquette & manners? I’d hate to do something wrong or offend someone?
I really don’t want to blog for money. I don’t expect to get ads. But what would be a monthly cost for someone who expects to post once a week?
Thank You I’m thinking of a name now.

Hi Barbara Ann! For your blog, if you use a free platform like WordPress.com, you shouldn’t have any costs other than those to make your projects. πŸ™‚

For the blogging etiquette and manners/ legal part of it, I would always ask any original source before sharing on your own blog, or social media. Most likely, it will generally be ok, but there are times when it’s not. Better to be safe than sorry! Also, always, always use the original source in a link when sharing others work. That is the only way to do.

I hope that helps! Good luck with your blog! πŸ™‚

I am new to blogging and have a blog that I write in from time to time, but I’d like to write more often. I’d love to feature photos of design elements that I like, but I’m worried about the legal aspects of posting photos that I didn’t take myself. Do you have any advice about this sort of thing? I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Thank you for posting these informative tips on starting a blog.
I have been wanting to start a blog before I even knew what blogging was. Not sure if that makes sense but I have had this passion for decorating and design since I was young and never really knew how to be heard. Now I do. I have been reading blogs for at least 5 years and it has taken me a little over a year to pick my name. Now lets hope it doesn’t take me that long to publish my first post.
Thank you for sharing how you started The Wood Grain Cottage.
