Our kitchen shelf makes the perfect mantel. See how I decorated our kitchen for Christmas.Â
Since we’re not hosting Thanksgiving this year, I’ve been ready to start getting the house ready for Christmas, especially since we’re getting ready for The Vintage Whites Market. These next few months are going to be really, really busy. 😀
So, when Sonya from At Home With The Barkers and Melissa from Daisy Mae Bell asked me to share my Christmas Mantel, I couldn’t wait to get busy decorating. And even thought we don’t have a mantel in our home, I decided to share our Christmas Kitchen Shelf.
This year, I’ve decided to decorate the house with a simple Christmas in mind. To set the stage for everything else I’ll be doing, I kept our kitchen shelf very natural, but with touches of red, and as we get a bit closer, I’ll be adding in lots of fresh greenery. Here’s what I’ve came up with:
I really love this combination…
I’ve collected the silver dishes over time and they were the perfect touch of metallic to add with the wood and white dinnerware…
And I don’t think it’s necessary to tell you just how much I love wood cutting boards. They’re one of my favorite items to cluster together…
I also bought several grain sacks for some exciting new things, but until I use them, I couldn’t help and hang them from the hooks. They’re beautiful.
And I loved them paired with the rosette wreath I made last year and shared in our Christmas home tour…
And even though the rest of the house has Christmas decor strung from one end to the other, having this shelf decorated and lovely makes me so silly happy…
It’s a pretty view to look at from the kitchen sink…
Now all I need to to do, is finish the rest of the house. But if truth be told, I’m excited to add/ move around our decor for the next couple of weeks. That way, I’ll have everything just right for this years Christmas home tour…
Here’s to continuing my simple Christmas theme! 😀

I think this is a great alternative to a mantel!! Your silver mixed with the berry red and creams is perfect!! Love this combination. ~Sonya
I LOVE your simple approach! The red berries with the natural woods and silvers and whites are perfect! Thanks for being a part of this tour! Life to the full! Melissa
Oh my gosh Shayna I love the wreath and grainsack! Just seeing this made me smile…can’t wait to see more of your simple (but stunning) decor! Happy Holidays!
This is beautiful Shayna : ) Love those cutting boards! I’m waiting on fresh greenary too! I can’t wait! I love the smell of evergreens in the house!
This is a fabulous substitute for a mantel. Love everything, especially the rose wreath.
Gorgeous! I love it too!!
I love the shelf so simple and sweet. Your home looks beautiful.

Oh, I love the shelf, do you have a post of how you made it or where you found it? I’m finding myself wanting to make everything you show!
Ok, just found your project gallery, but couldn’t find the rosette wreath, do you have a link for that too? I just love your kitchen, I know white cabinets are very popular but your kitchen is what I was thinking for mine, painting the walls a white color and leaving the cabinets dark, maybe accenting the island. Did you get the cabinets that way or did you stain them darker? I was thinking about staining mine darker. I like some wood colors. Just love all that you do : )
as always your style and photos are so beautiful!
You guys.. with the Christmas up, are getting me excited!!! :)))
You know, I met you over those shelves. lol
Hugs and Happy Holidays ~Shan

OMG! I love the hooks. I cannot find anything like that in NC and I’ve gone everywhere from like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby and little stores around here but no luck. Is there a site that I can order. I love what you have done to your house! I’m even making Rosette wreath and belt thingy you made! Love Country look is definitely home!
Thank you so much! I found the hooks at IKEA. Great price too! So happy you’re enjoying our blog & home! 😀
I can’t find the black, curved shelving bracket that you used on the shelf. Would you mind sharing where you found those? I’m in the process of making a similar shelf and those are just perfect! Thanks!
Hi there! Unfortunately, the original shelf came with the brackets. I just gave it a little makeover. Sorry that’s not more helpful!
