White Kitchen Shelves

I love the white dishes, I have the same set. I also like the black cart. I would never have thought to use it for my dishes! I have all those kitchen appliances that don’t fit in the cupboards on mine. What is your secret for keeping your dishes and shelves clean , dust and grease free?

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Ann! I love that set of dishes! I wish I had a secret for keeping them dust and grease free, but I don’t. I just know I have to wash them first before I use them. 😀

You have the original white dished by Pfaltzgraff, my husband and son (he is now 48) started these dishes for me as gifts for the kid to give Mom back in the late 60’s! They continue to be my best dishes. I can see you have found some of the fancy pieces to go with them. Their soup tureen is also lovely! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy!

    • Shayna says:

OH- I knew they were Pfaltzgraff from the stamp on the bottom, but I didn’t realize they were their original set. Neat-o! THANK YOU so much for sharing! I wish I could find the actual dinner plates to go with what I have. Mine came with a bunch of serving pieces, platters, tea cups, pitchers, etc. I’m now on the hunt for the dinner plates… and the soup tureen! 😀

  3. Gwen says:

I’m really proud of how you’ve discovered your style and that you and your hubby are working as a team to get your house styled (for it is a beautiful home). Doesn’t it feel good to find what you really like?!! It’s all turning out so nicely. Congrats!!!

    • Shayna says:

Oh, Gwen! THANK YOU so much for the lovely comment! You brought the biggest smile to my face! It is such a wonderful feeling to know my style— and to have a hubby that helps me get it right for the both of us! 😀

  4. Shelley says:

Your home is gorgeous! The shelves and cart look so good together.

I was thinking about your back door – would a pale blue be something you’d consider. I know you have that in your laundry room and it the layout of your home is the way I picture it – would it look out of place?

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so very much, Shelley! I love the way they look together too! 😀
You are totally right, we do have a blue door and it is right next to our mudroom, that’s one of the reasons I’m shying away from color on the back door since they’d be right next to each other. Good eye! 😀

  5. Diane Weeks says:

Your white dishes are “simply” lovely! You would have regretted not getting them.
    Blessings, Diane

  6. Stacey says:

You are right – your shelves are beautifully perfect!

  7. Wow, you are right — they were meant to be photographed! It all looks wonderful!

  8. Michelle says:

I love white dishes. I had the same set when I was first married 23 years ago. Silly me gave them away for more colorful dishes. I missed my white dishes so much that I asked for a set for Christmas and my husband bought me a beautiful set. Yours looks beautiful on your open shelves. Love your kitchen.

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Michelle! I’m wish you on the white dishes… I just love them! I’m on the hunt to find the missing pieces of my new set! 😀

  9. M says:

I need me a set! Lol;) I never have that kind of favor, while shopping in a thrift store! It’s a gorgeous addition to The WGC… Love them!

  10. Jenna Sue says:

In love with all of your dishes! I’ve been looking for blue & white ones just like that—so pretty!

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much, Jenna! I hope you find some of the blue and white ones… I frequently see them in thrift stores and antique stores. This particular pattern is Currier & Ives by Royal. They were my grandmothers, but my mom got them when she died and gave them to me to display and use. They’re so very special! 😀

  11. Ashley says:

I’m in love with everything white and wood…and this post takes care of all of that. But I must say that my true love in this post has to be the beautiful teacups in the last photos and the darling measuring cups. Beautiful styling.

  12. What a great find! I adore white ironstone!!!! Your shelves and your cart are so full of fabulous dishes and litte touches of spring. Those measuring cups stole my heart! Sigh!

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so very much, Yvonne! I am so happy I found them! Oh, and I bought the measuring cups at Wold Market. I love them too! 😀

  13. Melody says:

Great score! For our wedding 38 years ago, hubby & I selected Pfaltzgraff Dishes in Yorktowne pattern. Several years later, I found the Heritage pattern at a garage sale and I bought the entire set for $50. My sister bought my Yorktowne dishes for same price (we both still own our sets). I love the white simple shape and they look great stacked under/over other plates as contrast. I find many at thrift stores, and at one time I had 30+ plates which I would use for bridal & baby showers and large entertaining – even outside. Much sturdier than heavy paper plates and they go right into the dishwasher. Only several of mine have chipped. White anything + wood is stunning! I love how you arranged the shelves. So happy for you!

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so very much, Melody! I love hearing the history on these dishes! I’m on the hunt for more of them and I’m going to do a google search on the two patterns you’ve mentioned. These dishes are new to me, but I’m absolutely in love with them! I bet all your white dishes are positively lovely… I’m not partial or anything… 😀

  15. Christy says:

I have the same set of blue dishes. They belonged to my grandmother and I believe she purchased them with Green Stamps. I don’t use them all nor every day. Thus far we have only broken one sugar dish. There’s just no way to replace them and I always hand wash. I smile every time I pass by them in my hutch. They bring back such special memories. I hope one day my old dishes will bring as much joy to my child or maybe grandchildren.

    • Shayna says:

THANK YOU so much for sharing, Christy! I believe my grandma collected these over time with stamps as well. When she passed, my mom got them but gave them to me to display. She didn’t have the room. I cherish them. Love, Love, Love! 😀

  18. Lanni says:

I LOVE these shelves! Do you have a tutorial somewhere on your website for how you built them? I’ve looked around on your blog – but haven’t found one anywhere. Did you post it? THanks!

    • Shayna says:

Thank you so much, Lanni! Unfortunately, we didn’t share the tutorial when we built them. That was one of our very first projects pre- blogging once we moved into the house. Sorry! 🙁

  19. Kay says:

” . . .if I didn’t buy them, I would fully regret it later.” I had them – a full set of Pfaltzgraff dishes – and then decided I was tired of them and gave them away! What was I thinking when I did that? I bought another set of white dishes, but they’re not the same. They don’t have the heft and weightiness of the Pfaltzgraff and the new ones don’t look special when they’re displayed. Whatever you do, don’t ever get rid of your Pfaltzgraff. If you’re tired of them, put them away for a while and I’ll bet you’ll soon be bringing them back out . . .

  20. […] I’ve always loved the look of white dishes. Whether they’re displayed or stacked, or just sitting, I love them… I found this serving set at the thrift store. It matches my other white dishes in the kitchen… […]
