Home Paint Colors

I’ve had a lot of questions lately about the paint colors & paint sheens in our home. I figured it was time to put them all in one easy to find post!

By now you’ve probably figured out that I’m a neutral girl. While I do like color, I like to add it in small doses. I find that I like to change things up, so it’s much easier to have a neutral background.

Here are the colors that we’ve used:

The entryway:

White Dove and Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore

Painted Stripes: White Dove and Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore at The Wood Grain Cottage

Living Room:

All the paint colors throughout our home are mixed in an eggshell finish.

The trim and baseboards throughout our home are painted with Super White by Benjamin Moore in semi gloss.

The ceiling is painted with Simply White by Benjamin Moore in flat.

I have plans to do a little more painting and changing in 2014 (you’re not shocked, right??), but I’ll let you know as it happens!

  1. I’m with you on the neutral colors Shayna and adding color thru throw pillows, curtains and things like that! I had to learn the hard way about my Need to change things up every couple of weeks. You’re house is turning out beautiful, and I’m in love with the breakfast nook! Just in case I don’t get a chance to comment on other posts now that it’s getting so close to the big day, Merry Christmas to you and your Family. Here’s hoping the New Year holds nothing but Love, Good Health and Happiness for you all! Thank you for all your posts, I look forward to many more!

    1. THANK YOU so much, Amy! I’m a frequent changer- upper, so it just makes sense to go with neutrals. Plus, I just really love them! 😀

  2. Beautiful! I have question for you, (I’m new here) so if you have answered this in the past bare with me as I have not read your older posts. Yet. 🙂 How do you keep the paint fresh, and white? It doesn’t get dusty, or scuffed easily? Or is that just my home that has that problem, and by problem I mean Saint Bernard, kids, cats, etc…

    1. THANK YOU so very much! Welcome to The WGC! So happy to have you! 😀
I find the best way to keep my paint fresh {and white} is to clean them up or give them a fresh coat whenever the white starts to get a little less bright. I love the magic erasers and use them to remove any scuffs, etc. Generally though, it’s just my hubby and I and we keep things clean. Our furry friends live outside. 😀
      I hope that helps!

  4. I love your home, my in the process of transitioning my home into the cottage look… Are your floors walnut? Love your ideas..Thanks

    1. THANK YOU so much, Jessica! I know all about the transition phase… it took me a while to find my style, but once I did, watch out! 😀
Our hardwood flooring is a 3″ Hickory in a walnut finish. We bought them from Home Depot on sale! I couldn’t find a link to them exactly, but these from Lumber Liquidators are pretty close from what I can tell: http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/c/Walnut-Hickory-Casa-de-Colour-PRWH2/10006694
