Here’s how I made it… It was SO easy! You’re going to be chuckling at the end of the tutorial!

Supplies:

Optional Supplies:

Step One: Paint The Letters

I started with these pre-cut letters from Hobby Lobby…

I painted them with some leftover exterior paint, Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore…

Step Two: Layout The Letters

Once the letters were dry, I placed them on my weathered board (which I snagged from my parents farm, just like this one).

Step Three: Glue Letters Onto The Board

Once I was sure everything would fit with the proper spacing, I used my super hot glue gun and glued them right onto the board. Those letters are stuck

*Note: Don’t want to use hot glue to attach the letters? You can also nail them in place… just be sure to fill your nail holes!

Step Four: Enjoy!

With the sign done, I just propped it up on our front porch. I told you it was really easy!

I just love how it looks!

Heck, even I feel welcomed walking up!

I’m in love with the combination of the aged wood, rusty nails, sleek letters and cornstalks… which I chopped down from our field!

    1. Hi there! So happy you found me! ๐Ÿ˜€
Our front door color is Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore.
      Hope that helps!

  1. Super Easy and Super Cute! Where I live in New Mexico…hot glue doesn’t work too well. When it is hot, it falls off and when it is cold, it pops off! But I love it!

    1. THANK YOU so much, Sharon! Super glue works great for our area & porch, but if I had the hot and cold problem, I would definitely nail them on! ๐Ÿ˜€
      Have a great weekend!

    2. Too hot for us in Texas too so just used small nails and it worked wonderfully. I put WELCOME on one side for most of the year, and BELIEVE on the other for those special holiday times!!!! LOVE IT!!!! I also used an old picket from our fence we replaced!!!!

  2. you are so blessed to have corn stalks and a parent’s farm where you can score all these wonderful things! I love how it turned out!:)

  3. Beautiful! and yes, so very easy I’m thinking I need to make one for my front porch ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m not sure I want it to say welcome though, seeing as I don’t want “un-welcomed” people thinking they are… hmmmm maybe one that says Autumn Blessings?

  4. you are right Shayna the amazing and easy projects are always the best ones & this one is really Amazing ๐Ÿ™‚ I love it very much and it would make me feel very welcomed too ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I just subscribed to wood grain cottage after seeing a pin on Pinterest. I am not a crafty person, but I am going to try to make your welcome sign. The entire front porch is so inspiring. I love it all. We live in the country a ways off the road, so big over-sized decorations is what I need to show up as people drive by. This sign will definitely do the trick. One question – what kind of glue gun and glue sticks do you use? Mine does not get super hot.

    1. Welcome Diane! I’m so happy to have you! ๐Ÿ˜€ For the hot glue gun, I bought mine at Hobby Lobby. It’s cordless and made by Surebonder. On the packaging, the glue gun will tell you how hot it gets, at least mine did. I hope that helps! ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. What size is the board approx…if you cant find an old piece of reclaimed wood like you used what else would you suggest. I would LOVE to make this but cant seem to find a board like you used. Thanks!

    1. Hi Lesa! The board that I used is 11 inches wide x 90 inches tall. Instead of the reclaimed wood, you could always but a 2 X 10, or a 2 X 12 at your desired length. I hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I love your front porch, I found the perfect to make this. On the back I am going to paint BELIEVE in red for Christmas! I was wondering how you keep the cornstalks beside the sign standing up? Thank you for the awesome ideas!!!!

    1. Thank you so much, Tammy! Your idea sounds wonderful! The cornstalks were quite sturdy, but I did use some rope to tie them all together, then I fanned out the bottom of them to create a “base”. I hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Thanks for your great idea. I plan to do the same thing….only I want to turn it 90 degrees and say FRONT PORCH. I’ve been looking for a pre-made sign & I ran across your idea, LOVE IT!

  11. I absolutely love this and am planning on making these as welcome gift bags for my sisterโ€™s wedding. What kind of paint did you use? Are of my paint is water soluble, and I am worried that the paint will eventually run or fade if water gets on it. Did you seal the paint somehow afterwards? Thank you!!!
